Lily-Rose Depp Reveals She'll Work 'Ten Times Harder' To 'Prove' Herself In Hollywood

Lily-Rose Depp, daughter of legendary actor Johnny Depp, has made it clear that she doesn't intend to ride the coattails of her famous father's success.

The young actress has revealed she would work "ten times harder" to "prove herself" as a talented artist in her own right and forge a unique path.

Lily-Rose Depp, who is known to be a very private person, recently weighed in on her career on the big screen, declaring that fame is the downside of acting.

Johnny Depp's daughter, Lily-Rose, is expressing her dedication and passion for her craft inspite of her father's pedigree as an accomplished actor.

According to the Daily Mail, the 25-year-old actress appeared in an interview with Josh Horowitz on his "Happy Sad Confused" podcast on Thursday, where she declared her determination to establish a name for herself in Hollywood.

"I don't mind working harder if that's what people want from me to prove myself," she said. "I love what I do, it's the only thing I know how to do. So I feel like I have to do this."

"And if that means working ten times harder, then that's okay. I am not ashamed, my parents are such talented performers. I am blessed to be their daughter and watch them go about their careers," she added.

Lily-Rose tends to stay away from social media, rarely sharing personal updates or photos with her 8.3 million Instagram followers.

She oftentimes uses the popular media-sharing app to post red carpet snaps and trailers for her new projects. However, when it comes to addressing several controversies that had trailed her famous father, she'd rather not speak out.

Now, she has explained that she doesn't want the defining factor of her blossoming career to be anything linked to the famous people in her life and would rather it be based on her work.

"I'm not here to answer for anybody," she said, per the Daily Mail. "And I feel like for a lot of my career, people have really wanted to define me by the men in my life, whether that's my family members or my boyfriends, whatever."

"And I'm really ready to be defined for the things that I put out there," Lily-Rose added.

Although Lily-Rose's 2023 TV series, "The Idol," was hit with heavy criticism, her father, Depp, reportedly had no issues about his daughter starring in the explicit show.

A source told the Daily Mail that the actor is happy that the 24-year-old "is carving out a career of her own and challenging herself to take on roles that interest her and test her."

The insider said, "He loves that she is her own person and becoming her own actress. She isn't resting her career on his success. He loves that she is such a strong person, especially now that she has gotten some extra attention with her recent role in 'The Idol.'"

As for the criticism that trailed Lily-Rose since the series debuted at Cannes, Depp sees it as a sign that his daughter "must be doing something right."

"He is proud of her and not lending anything to the extra chatter and drama that the role brings," the insider continued.

The French-American actress has managed to keep her circle tight and stay true to her inklings despite the pressures of Hollywood.

Reports suggest that she prefers to stay at home rather than go out and loves cooking with her friends and making pottery.

She has been in a relationship with rapper and singer Danielle Balbuena, known professionally as 070 Shake, and recently gushed to Harpers Bazaar about their relationship.

"She's just the most amazing person I've ever met," Lily-Rose told the news outlet of 070 Shake. "Honestly, the most kind-hearted person. I'm super in love and I'm super happy."

"I've always been really private about my personal life, but it's hard not to talk about her because I'm so happy. It's just when you know, you know," she continued. "Love is love. You fall in love with who you fall in love with. It's never seemed more complicated than that."

Even though her career is still young, Lily-Rose implied that she has faced her fair share of challenges and does not like certain aspects of acting.

In a December chat with Entertainment Network, the "Nosferatu" actress lamented how every job has its own "set of circumstances" and stated that she wants to maintain privacy in her life as she doesn't like that fame comes with her career choice.

"People are interested in things that they shouldn't necessarily be interested in," she began. "And the job of an actor is to go into a character, melt into it, and make the audience believe you are this character."

She continued, "In order to do that, it's important to protect a sense of anonymity - they're not supposed to get to know 'you' that well, because you want them to believe you as other characters."
