Angelina Jolie reportedly earned $80 million following the conclusion of her acrimonious divorce battle with Brad Pitt.
Until recently, the two had been locked in a legal feud for over eight years over the details of their separation, despite having a prenuptial agreement in place before their 2014 marriage.
According to reports, Angelina Jolie's post-divorce earnings include her share of the winery she co-owned with Brad Pitt and a Winston Churchill painting she received as a gift from the actor.
Angelina Jolie Walks Away $80 Million Richer After Eight Years Divorce Battle
After a legal battle lasting more than eight years, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie settled their divorce just before the end of the year, as seen in documents filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court on December 30.
Financial records were not disclosed in the documents, leaving it unclear who received what. However, according to the Daily Mail, Jolie walked away $80 million richer after dragging Pitt "through the ringer" throughout the lengthy court battle.
Before their 2014 marriage, the two had signed a prenuptial agreement that allowed them to keep their individual assets while splitting their joint capital in the event of a divorce.
Unfortunately for Pitt, this arrangement helped Jolie earn $64 million when she sold her 50 percent stake in the Château Miraval Winery, which she co-owned with the actor.
She also retained the $11.5 million earnings from a Winston Churchill painting she sold at an auction after initially receiving the rare painting as a gift from Pitt.
The Former Couple Is Relieved That Their Divorce Has Been Settled
Despite his now ex-wife gaining so much, Pitt is seemingly unbothered by it and is focused on the fact that his marriage to the actress is officially over.
"[He is] relieved that this weight is finally lifted from him," a source told the Daily Mail about the actor. "He is no longer bound in any way to his marriage with Angelina. She has really put him through the ringer and he is just glad this portion is done."
Meanwhile, Jolie also shares a sense of relief that their divorce battle is now over after being completely exhausted by the legal back-and-forth she has had to endure over the years.
"More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt," read a statement from the actress' lawyer. "This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over."
Brad Pitt's Alleged Reason For Settling With Angelina Jolie
According to the Daily Mail, a source familiar with the situation disclosed why Pitt decided to resolve his contentious divorce dispute with his ex-wife.
The insider told the news outlet that the 61-year-old actor is "relieved" about the dissolution after he was left wearied by it because he believed Jolie had been "dragging her feet" on the divorce.
They added that his intention to tie the knot in 2025 with his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, is the reason why he chose to conclude their divorce.
"They are looking to get married in the next year and Brad has settled because he wants to keep his children on his side for his new marriage to go ahead," the insider shared. "Apparently, Ines is keen to have children too and pressured him to get it all sorted out as soon as possible."
The Duo Are Still Fighting Over Their French Winery
Although their divorce has been settled, the former couple is still locking horns over the winery they once co-owned.
According to a source close to Pitt, the duo had "purchased Miraval with the intent of keeping it 100 percent in the family."
The source added, "They were going to hand this down for their children so that one day they could run the business, and it would provide all of them a lucrative and stable future."
However, in 2022, Jolie changed her plans and sold her stake, which Pitt claims violated a verbal agreement that neither would sell their stakes without the other's consent.
Now, the former couple may finally be heading to trial on the case later this year after Superior Court Judge Lia Martin recently dismissed Jolie's latest motion for dismissal.
Sources Claim Winery Court Battle Will Get Complicated
As the case progresses, many sources have indicated that the situation is likely to become even more complicated for the former couple.
"It's already been ugly, but it's going to get even uglier as Angie is bent on retaliating against Brad and will try to continue to settle more old personal scores," an insider told the Daily Mail.
Another source criticized Jolie for mixing personal issues with the legal dispute instead of keeping it confined to business matters.
"This is a straightforward business dispute, but unfortunately, the other side has consistently introduced personal elements which have exposed the weaknesses in their case and complicated and lengthened the proceedings." said the source.
