Johnny Depp's daughter Lily-Rose Depp has reflected on why her father's role in "Edward Scissorhands" traumatized her.

The actress spoke about the experience in her cover story for Harper's Bazaar while discussing her relationship with the award-winning Hollywood star.

Lily-Rose Depp is currently in a relationship with rapper and singer Danielle Balbuena, whom she has been dating for the past two years.

Being the daughter of one of Hollywood's finest actors, it's no surprise that Lily-Rose often had the opportunity to watch many of her father's movies and learn from the experience to shape her own career.

Among all of them, Lily-Rose recently revealed that one deeply affected her, specifically referencing her father's character in the gothic romantic fantasy film "Edward Scissorhands."

"Movies are supposed to make you feel something. I was traumatized by it," the actress said about the movie in which Depp starred as a young man who has scissor blades for hands, per Harper's Bazaar.

When she watched the movie, Lily-Rose was just three years old, so it wouldn't have been surprising if her trauma stemmed from her fear of the character. However, she revealed that this wasn't the case; instead, it was the way the character was treated for being a "mutant" that distressed her.

She added, "Not because I thought he was scary, but because everyone was being so mean to him and I got really upset. It's a difficult childhood memory."

Lily-Rose also opened up about, "Nosferatu," a silent horror film in which she is seen having sex with a monster in the first scene.

"The Idol" star shared that while she did find the film "scary, gross, and revolting," she also found it "astonishingly beautiful" and enjoys exploring films like this, which taps into her gothic instincts.

"I'm interested in the darker underbelly of things," she told the outlet. "As an actor, you hope that your role will be as meaty as can be, so you have as much to dive into as possible."

Lily-Rose also shared that she finds it exciting that she gets to explore herself in these films, even to depths the actress never knew she could.

She added, "The most exciting thing is getting to explore parts of myself. You get to hide behind all these beautiful artifices, the costumes, the story, but the place I'm drawing from is deeply personal."

Although Lily-Rose's 2023 TV series, "The Idol," was hit with heavy criticism, her father, Depp, reportedly had no issues about his daughter starring in the explicit show.

A source told the Daily Mail that the actor is happy that the 24-year-old "is carving out a career of her own and challenging herself to take on roles that interest her and test her."

The insider said, "He loves that she is her own person and becoming her own actress. She isn't resting her career on his success. He loves that she is such a strong person, especially now that she has gotten some extra attention with her recent role in The Idol."

As for the criticism that trailed Lily-Rose since the series debuted at Cannes, Depp sees it as a sign that his daughter "must be doing something right."

"He is proud of her and not lending anything to the extra chatter and drama that the role brings," the insider continued.

Regarding her love life, Lily-Rose remains enamored with rapper and singer Danielle Balbuena, known by her stage name 070 Shake.

"She's just the most amazing person I've ever met, Depp said about the "Winter Baby/New Jersey Blues" singer. "Honestly, the most kind-hearted person."

She went on to gush about how her partner, whom she calls "'my boyfriend,' because that's what she feels like," makes her happy.

Lily-Rose shared, "I'm super in love and I'm super happy. I've always been really private about my personal life, but it's hard not to talk about her because I'm so happy."

The actress revealed that she knows this is the real deal simply based on her heartfelt instincts, nothing complicated.

"It's just when you know, you know," she told the outlet. "You fall in love with who you fall in love with. It's never seemed more complicated than that."
