After making headlines for the murder of her mother, Gypsy Rose Blanchard is now a mother herself!
The 33-year-old reality TV star was in the process of divorcing her ex-husband Ryan Anderson in April when she became pregnant with her boyfriend Ken Urker’s first child in July. The two had previously been engaged while she was serving time for the 2015 murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard Is Officially A Mother!
Gypsy Rose made headlines due to her experience as a victim of Munchausen by proxy, which made her the subject of several documentaries. The experience led her to collaborate with her then-boyfriend to plot the murder of her mother Dee Dee in 2015, after she subjected her daughter to years of painful medical procedures that ultimately turned out to be unnecessary.
Now, after officially divorcing her ex-husband Ryan Anderson, Gypsy Rose is ready to start a new chapter in her life as a mother of a beautiful baby girl named Aurora Raina Urker. Gypsy’s boyfriend, Ken Urker, shared a photo of the new family together on Instagram on New Year’s Day to celebrate the new year.

The proud father took to Instagram to share a photo of Gypsy Rose lying in a hospital bed with her new baby in her arms. Ken is standing above her, looking down at the bundle of joy. “Welcoming 2025 with the greatest gift of all,” he wrote in the caption.
“Congratulations Brother! You’re gonna be a fantastic father,” one user commented.
“Congrats y’all,” another follower added along with three red heart emojis.
“Congrats, guys,” a third user chimed in, adding another long string of red heart emojis to their well wishes.
Why Gypsy Rose Chose To Name Her Daughter Aurora

In December, less than a month before giving birth, Gypsy told People magazine that she couldn’t take credit for her daughter’s name. “Ken came up with that,” she explained. “There’s a whole backstory to it.”
Although some people thought that he was inspired by the Disney Princess in Sleeping Beauty, that was not the case. It was also not due to her stepmom’s dog, who is named Aurora Grace. Instead, the story comes from the couple’s joint fascination with the Northern Lights.
"Back whenever Ken and I were together seven years ago, both of us have a fascination with the Northern Lights, and the proper term is the Aurora Borealis," she explained, noting that they both talked about the topic when she was still behind bars.
"I think it was maybe in 2018, we wrote each other's future kid's name on pieces of paper and Aurora is what we both picked without even knowing each other was picking it," she explained.
Gypsy Rose Thinks Her Mom Would Forgive Her For Her Actions

While growing up, Gypsy was subject to unnecessary medical treatments and surgeries, which included removing her teeth and salivary glands. She was also confined to a wheelchair and often had feeding tubes inserted in order to address her mother’s claims that she was suffering from fabricated health conditions.
Even though she worked with her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to murder her mother in 2015, she believes that her mother would forgive her. In the epilogue of her memoir, “My Time To Stand,” she revealed that her baby daughter had a shocking connection to her mother: the ninth anniversary of Dee Dee’s death was the same day Gypsy received her first sonogram.
“I like to think that my mother is telling me that she wants me to move on with my life, that she forgives me,” Gypsy said. “And what I will do on this anniversary is her way of helping me change the way I think of myself every June 10. Maybe now, with my freedom, we can both be released from our purgatories. Maybe now she can be free too. She always said we were two sides of the same penny.”
Gypsy Is Ready To Be A Mother
Despite doubts from the public, Gypsy Rose is ready to be a mother now that she has a stronger support system around her. While announcing her pregnancy, she told ABC News that she would learn from her past mistakes, as previously reported by The Blast.
"I understand that with my past, there's gonna be a lot of people that kind of question if I even should be a mother or even have children in my care," Gypsy confessed. "I know that I'm not perfect. I know that I have made mistakes in the past."
"And I will probably make minor mistakes going forward, but at the same time, I do know right from wrong, and learning from past mistakes is a growth that comes with time," she added.
