Kate Beckinsale recently took to Instagram to share a deeply personal video, recounting several instances of harassment and abuse she endured while working on various film sets while supporting Blake Lively.

Lively, who starred in and worked under Justin Baldoni’s direction in the film adaptation of "It Ends With Us," has accused him of sexual harassment during production. According to the lawsuit, Baldoni allegedly showed Lively explicit images and videos and made inappropriate inquiries about her personal sex life. The complaint further claims that Baldoni retaliated against Lively after she spoke up, launching a smear campaign intended to damage her professional and personal reputation.

In a video shared online, Beckinsale recounted an incident where she was labeled “that c-nt” simply for speaking up about a male co-star who was “drunk every day” during filming.

“He was going through something. I have sympathy for that, but I was waiting, as was the crew, for six hours a day for him to learn his lines,” the actress recalled. “It means I’m not getting to see my daughter in the evenings the whole movie. The studio’s response was to give me a bike so I could ride around the studio lot while I was waiting. And then, of course, I was called a c-nt and a b-tch. During a take, I was called a ‘stupid b-tch.'”

She then revealed there were not one, but two different sets where she “was put on such a strict diet and exercise program" that she "lost my periods all together."

While working on an action film, Beckinsale shared that a male co-star physically hurt her during a fight scene. However, when she brought up her injury, she found herself isolated by the rest of the cast.

“There’s a certain kind of actor who gets a thrill out of legally being able to harm a woman during a fight sequence,” the actress explained. “And I was harmed, to the point where there were MRIs proving it. I was gaslit and made to feel like I was the problem and blamed and left out of cast dinners as soon as I mentioned there was a problem.”

Beckinsale then dropped the bombshell that she was “forced by a publicist” to film “the day after I had a miscarriage."

"I said, ‘I can’t. I’m bleeding. I don’t want to go and change my clothes in front of people I don’t know and do a photoshoot. I’m bleeding out a miscarriage,’" she explained. "She was like, ‘You’ll have to, or you’ll be sued.’”

“This is going on. This has been going on forever. I have 47 million stories similar to this,” the actress said as she shed light on the harassment that female actors frequently encounter on set. “I was 18 and felt up by somebody that I really trusted on a crew. I went to the lead actress, who was known for being a supporter of women, and said this is happening and was told, ‘No, it didn’t.’ I went to another actress and said I’d just been assaulted by this man and told, ‘No, you haven’t been.'”

She then opened up about how being a woman in the industry does not allow you to mention it because if you do, "you’re f-cked."

"It’s supposed to be; you absorb it, and somehow you’re the homie," she said. "That has to stop. I am grateful to Blake Lively for highlighting this is not an archaic problem no one is facing. This is continuing. When it does happen a machine goes in place to absolutely destroy you.”

Kate Beckinsale's Full Statement

In the caption of her video, Beckinsale further explained that:

"Everyone in EVERY industry should be taken seriously and not punished when something egregious happens to them at work -and the difference, I suppose ,in our industry is that it becomes something that is played out in the public sphere, and that can be very very hard to take , and because it is so public and so globally public , and very quickly becomes clickbait, it can also destroy someone’s livelihood, mental health and reputation and that can be very difficult to recover from."

She later admitted that "it is very, very, very easy to foment hatred against actresses, as was seen in the transcripts of conversations full of repulsively between the publicists and crisis team involved in this case." Beckinsale added that social media also plays a part, something that Amber Heard has previously spoken out about.

Towards the end of her lengthy caption, the actress mentioned Blake Lively's lawsuit against Justin Baldoni.

"I don’t want anybody ,male or female who has a legitimate complaint to then have that weaponised against them in any industry ,anywhere, and I mention this in association with Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni because our industry makes things more visible due to the press and the public getting deliberately involved and led towards an opinion they don’t realise is deliberate."

In addition to Kate Beckinsale, Colleen Hoover, Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel, and more have publicly backed Blake Lively.
