Beyoncé's halftime performance also sparked headlines for including a gesture that the NFL has officially banned.
The show ended with the "Single Ladies" superstar dramatically elevated on a scaffold above the field, striking a finger-gun gesture as a “Bang” banner unfurled behind her.
The moment quickly ignited conversations across social media, especially since NFL players, including star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, have faced penalties throughout the season for similar celebratory gestures. In response to ongoing debates surrounding such gestures, NFL executive Troy Vincent reaffirmed the league's firm stance during an October meeting, underscoring their strict prohibition on the field.
“There’s no place in professional football for that,” Vincent stated at the time. “Think about where we are as a society. … I don’t think that’s where we are and what we’re trying to represent.”
