Jay-Z's lawyer, Alex Spiro, has received a scathing rebuke from the presiding judge on the rapper's rape case.
The judge, Analisa Torres, slammed the attorney for wasting "judicial resources," citing his repeated attempts to expose the identity of Jane Doe, the rape accuser, and expedite the case.
Additionally, Judge Torres ruled in favor of Jay-Z's accuser, deciding that her anonymity should remain protected for the time being.
A Judge Criticized Jay-Z's Lawyer's 'Relentless Filing Of Combative Motions'
Jay-Z's rape accuser scored a small victory in the ongoing case as presiding judge Analisa Torres ruled that her anonymity would be preserved for the next stage of the proceedings.
The ruling came after Jay-Z's attorney, Alex Spiro, repeatedly attempted to remove Jane Doe's anonymity and dismiss the case, which earned him a sharp rebuke from the judge.
According to Torres, Spiro's repeated maneuvers to fast-track due process were a waste of judicial resources. She also expressed disapproval of the New York-based attorney's use of inflammatory language in addressing the accuser in previous filings.
"Carter's lawyer's relentless filing of combative motions containing inflammatory language and ad hominem attacks is inappropriate, a waste of judicial resources, and a tactic unlikely to benefit his client," Torres said in her five-page ruling released on Thursday, per the Daily Mail.
She added, "The Court will not fast-track the judicial process merely because counsel demands it."
Why Jay-Z Wanted Rape Accuser's Anonymity Removed
Earlier this month, Jay-Z filed a motion to remove his accuser's anonymity, saying it was a matter of fairness for her identity to be revealed.
"Fair is fair. It is not consistent with justice, fairness, or the rules governing federal proceedings for the Plaintiff and her counsel to smear [Jay-Z] 's good name," Spiro wrote in the document obtained by TMZ.
Spiro also wrote that the accused music mogul built an "impeccable reputation" and has never been "accused of, or engaged in, any sexual misconduct."
The Rapper Accused Sued His Accuser And Her Lawyer For Alleged Extortion
At the time, the filing revealed that Jay-Z had filed an extortion suit against the accuser's attorney, Tony Buzbee.
He had initially referred to himself as a "high-profile individual" who had attended Sean "Diddy" Combs' parties, whom he was named alongside in the rape lawsuit.
The filing further claimed that Jay-Z believes he is being sued because Buzbee and the accuser sought to "retaliate against the rare target who would not pay."
This belief was linked to the demand letter Jay-Z claims to have received from the Texas-based attorney.
Jay-Z Recently Added A Defamation Claim To His Extortion Suit Against His Rape Accuser's Lawyer
According to Rolling Stone, Jay-Z also intensified his fight against Buzbee last week by amending his extortion suit to include a defamation claim.
In the amended filing, the Roc Nation founder's attorneys accused the Texas-based lawyer of launching a defamation campaign against Jay-Z, citing media threats made to "anyone who may have ever come into contact with [Sean 'Diddy'] Combs," who at the time was facing multiple civil lawsuits from Buzbee.
As part of the docs, they added evidence of Buzbee liking posts that suggested the rapper's involvement in Diddys' alleged sexual assaults.
They also included a December 10 TMZ article in which Buzbee was seen discussing the possibility of filing a criminal complaint against the rapper.
"These were no idle comments," Jay-Z's lawyers sternly remarked. "Buzbee's words were carefully calculated to leave the public with one unavoidable conclusion: that Mr. Carter was facing imminent criminal prosecution for rape. This is defamation per se because he directly and falsely accused Mr. Carter of committing the horrendous criminal act of rape."
Jay-Z Will Show 'Zero Loyalty' To Co-Accused Rapper Diddy Amid Rape Allegations
As Jay-Z's rape case continues to unfold, it has been rumored that the rapper is only focused on clearing his name and will show "zero loyalty" to his co-accused Diddy.
An insider told the Daily Mail that the Roc Nation founder has already shown his intentions by distancing himself from Diddy when the embattled music mogul was arrested on sex crime charges in September.
They further claimed that Jay-Z would go to any lengths to clear his name, even if it meant "throwing Diddy under the bus."
"The moment Diddy was arrested, Jay-Z scrubbed him from his existence. He is going after [lawyer Tony] Buzbee for himself and not for anyone else," said the source.
"The only thing that he cares about is him never stepping foot inside a jail cell and his family being safe. Jay-Z is extremely powerful and will deploy any tactic necessary."
