Billie Eilish continues to be one of the biggest stars in the world, as she’s been trending for her latest four singles, as well as her sophomore album that is coming out next month. At the same time though, Eilish is facing backlash for dating her boyfriend, Matthew Tyler Vorce. He is 10 years older than her, and is currently facing backlash on social media, for his past use of racist and homophobic posts, regarding Black and gay people. Fans have since called for Eilish to put an end to this relationship.
Matthew Tyler Vorce Apologizes On Instagram
On Thursday, Vorce ended up issuing an apology on his Instagram feed, as the account soon went on private mode. He claims that he was hurtful, irresponsible, and was being dumb for his actions.
“I want to apologize for the things that I wrote on social media in the past. The language I used was hurtful and irresponsible and I understand how offensive those words are. Whether it was a lyric, a quote or just me being dumb, it does not matter.”
Matthew Says He Is Ashamed
Vorce continued his Instagram post, by expressing how apologetic he is for his past irresponsible and hateful use on social media. He also claimed that his words weren’t how he was raised at all.
“I am ashamed and deeply sorry that I used them in any context. It is not how I was raised and it is not what I stand for. I shouldn’t have used this language in the first place and I won’t use it again. I am so sorry for the hurt I have caused.”
Billie And Matthew Continue To Be Criticized
Even after this apology by Vorce on Instagram, he is still being canceled on social media. His words in the past are deemed as inexcusable. Users are also crushing Billie online, for refusing to publicly address her boyfriend for these old posts. The question now is if Billie will finally accept requests to publicly speak on this situation.
“Billie Eilish not addressing queerbaiting and scandals, not her boyfriends problems, and her music ain’t even that good but y’all aren’t ready for that discussion,” said @GreyScaleGrieve on Twitter.
