35-year-old Chrissy Teigen, a model, social media influencer, and cookbook author, is in trouble. After Courtney Stodden broke the news (with proof) about how they were bullied by Teigen online, where she asked them to take their own life, many brands have boycotted Teigen, despite the lengthy apologies the model has made to Stodden.
For a model who went from being discovered at a beach shop, to making the Swimsuit Illustrated cover in 2010, to marrying John Legend in 2011 – here’s the rise and fall of Chrissy Teigen, and how she is valiantly trying to save face…
From Struggling Model To Mrs. Legend
Of course, it was not easy for Teigen to start with, even though dating John Legend did make it easy. As per a 2019 interview of the couple in Vanity Fair, there were times Legend would wire her some money.
Becoming Mrs. Legend definitely helped her career, and made the move from model to cookbook writer a lot easier for Chrissy Teigen although there was a time when food and money were both scarce. Said Teigen, “I had no credit cards, I didn’t have a bank account”.
Of course, now, she does have everything…
And Now, Teigen Is “The Bully”
Fame is a capricious mistress and when Courtney Stodden let it be known that they were cyber-bullied by Chrissy Teigen, all hell broke loose, at least for Teigen.
Stodden was just 16 when the bullying began and has said that is damaging for a child to be bullied online by someone like Teigen, who wrote stuff like, ‘I can’t wait for you to die.’
Unsurprisingly, Macy’s dropped Teigen’s cookbooks and Bloomingdale’s canceled a promotional event. Teigen’s empire seems to be crumbling down…
Although Stodden did claim to have forgiven Teigen.
Teigen Is Only Too Willing To Apologize
To give Teigen due credit, she has been trying to make good and calling herself all sorts of names for the person she was back then.
She posted a long apology on social media as well, where she claimed that her own behavior in the past, horrifies her today. She also called herself a “troll” and said that she owed many people apologies.
There seems to be an outpouring of support for her with Selma Blair and Jennifer Garner sending her positivity and even Zoe Saldana writing, “The trolling that you are receiving is also uncalled for. I see you and respect you”.
Here’s the full apology by Teigen…
Will Oprah Help Teigen Save Face?
Of course, John Legend has been standing beside his wife like a rock. Not defending her, but loving and supporting her.
And while many think that Teigen should just lay low till all this blows down, media reports suggest that she may be looking to do an Oprah interview, similar to the recent Meghan Markle piece to tell her side of the story.
Apparently “if Oprah can forgive her, so can the nation” and Teigen also believes that she can talk her way out of this mess.
