The past week has been huge for the Atlanta trio Migos. They finally delivered their highly anticipated “Culture III” album last Friday. This was their first album since the “Culture” sequel in January 2018. It went on to become the number one album in the US, and “Culture III” may reach the same accomplishment. Now, the “Versace” rappers are making big moves with YouTube, in regards to executive producing an upcoming documentary that discusses diamonds and their history in hip-hop.
This YouTube Project Is A Four-Part Series
Migos took to their YouTube account to make this announcement, revealing fans will be treated to four parts of this series. It is titled “Ice Cold: The Untold Story Of Hip-Hop Jewelry.” The description of this series states that this is “told through the multi-faceted prism of jewelry, “Ice Cold” explores Hip Hop’s ability to reimagine and transcend established notions of wealth, status, and superiority.” Other rappers in this series will include Lil Baby, French Montana, J Balvin, City Girls, and more.
This Series Will Air On July 8
As far as when fans will be able to catch episodes of “Ice Cold: The Untold Story Of Hip-Hop Jewelry,” the launch date is set for July 8. This series also dives into “deeper issues driving the passion for jewelry: racial inequality, access to the American Dream & the sheer resilience of hip-hop culture. Talib Kweli, a hip-hop legend, also spoke on the significance of jewelry in hip-hop.
“If you’re in America, you have to participate in capitalism,” said Kweli in the trailer. “It’s where a lot of people who haven’t been able to build the same type of generational wealth as white people in this country. That’s where you could show that you’re a good capitalist, ‘Look how big and fly my chain is.”
Migos’ ‘Culture III’ Album Is Heading For A Big First Week Debut
According to Chart Data, Migos‘ “Culture III” album is expected to do very well, in regards to its first week sales. It is projected to land at the number two spot on the Billboard 200 chart, with 126,000 units sold. The top spot is expected to go to Polo G‘s “Hall Of Fame” album, with 135,000 units. If Migos is somehow able to get the number one position, it would be their third consecutive number one album. Even if this isn’t the case, they continue to prove how dominant they still are. “Culture III” featured appearances from Drake, Cardi B, the late Pop Smoke, Justin Bieber, and more.
Migos Are Also Having A Las Vegas Takeover This Fall
Migos will also be heading to Las Vegas this fall, with a fall takeover. They will be in Sin City from October 14-17. The events they will hold include pool parties and performances. These performances will feature records off of the “Culture III” album. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Migos had been performing in Vegas on multiple occasions. Fans loved the energy they brought, as they always do nationwide.
