It certainly has not been an easy year for the Queen. The death of Prince Philip came to sadden a year that was made even worse by the behavior of certain family members. The loss of Prince Philip was not the only loss that she had to endure this year either!
She had recently been gifted a corgi named Fergus who tragically died around the same time that she lost her husband. Her son Prince Andrew hopes a new corgi can lift her spirits!
Reports in the last few years had indicated that The Queen did not want to own any more dogs. Her reason was that she did not want to pass away and leave any young dogs behind. She probably didn’t trust that Prince Charles would look after them as she does.
Also, at 95 owning corgis is a bit more dangerous than people realize. These dogs are small but overly energetic. Many people including her staff and family fear that a corgi could cause Her Majesty to trip and fall over!
These days The Queen spends most of her time on the Windsor estate. As is the case with many of her priorities Windsor has a lot of ground for her dogs to run around. Long walks with her dogs are something that she still enjoys.
The Queen got two dogs, Fergus and Muick, recently when Prince Philip had his long hospital stay. Sadly Fergus was the dog the died suddenly a couple of weeks back. To keep her dog total at 2 Prince Andrew gifted her this new dog whose name is yet to be revealed.
As we mentioned one of the reasons why The Queen was essentially not taking in new pets is that she was afraid she’d leave young dogs behind. Since she has taken in new dogs it’s safe to assume that there’s a plan for what will happen to the dogs once the Queen passes away.
Many people seem to think that Prince Andrew and his daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are going to be the ones in charge of the dogs. It was their family who gifted her dogs in the first place.
In popular culture, Prince Andrew has been labeled the Queen’s favorite son. However, around 2019 it was revealed that the Prince had a very close relationship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. After that information came to light he’s been removed from all royal duties.
When his father passed away Prince Andrew was interviewed by the press and allowed to walk in the funeral procession. The British people didn’t take his return to public life too well. It seems that he’s going to stick to working behind the scenes from now on!
