It’s been quite a while since Kanye West fans have received new music from him. Last summer, Kanye teased the released of his “Donda” album in late July. The title of this project is in honor of his late mother, who passed away back in 2007. On the scheduled July 24 release date at midnight, there was no new album on streaming outlets. Kanye didn’t provide any updates after that, besides a change to the cover art. Fans are still waiting.
A New Kanye Album Is Supposedly On The Way
On Tuesday, Kanye fans received some very good news, courtesy of his manager, Abou “Bu” Thiam. He commented under an Instagram post by Gap, which promoted Kanye and their YEEZY collaboration line. Thiam said “WestDayEver. Album OTW.” The “West Day Ever” title was also a campaign slogan that Kanye used during his 2020 presidential run, which did not work out. Thiam did not reveal the exact date for when fans can expect the West Day Ever album, though.
Kanye’s Last Album Came In 2019
The last time that Kanye fans received an album from him was back in October 2019. This was for his gospel-inspired “Jesus Is King” album. This project contained 11 tracks with appearances from Ty Dolla $ign, his Sunday Service Choir, and more. Jesus Is King ended up debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and is currently certified gold in the US. It even went on to win an award at the 2021 GRAMMYs for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.
Kanye Is Busy Dominating The Fashion World For Now
Despite the long wait for new music from Kanye, fans are soaking in other business ventures from him. This includes his YEEZY deal with Gap, in which he signed a 10-year collaboration with the retailer last summer. On Tuesday, the pre-orders were available for their $200 blue jacket, which resulted in the Gap website crashing. They ended up having their biggest day of traffic in the history of their website as a result of this highly anticipated collaboration, which is already making history.
Kanye Is Still Going Through An Ongoing Divorce With Kim Kardashian
Kanye also dominated headlines at the top of 2021, as it was revealed that he and Kim Kardashian would be getting a divorce. This comes after the two had been married since 2014. Paperwork ended up officially being filed in mid-February. It was also Kanye’s 44 birthday on Tuesday, and Kim made sure to wish him a happy one on her Instagram feed. She also added that she loves him for life. This caused many to wonder if the divorce will end up being finalized.
