Both Lopez and Netflix have confirmed the deal. Plus, we’ve got details about the type of productions that she’ll be involved in for the streaming service. As far as the amount of money she’ll be getting for the deal, those details have been harder to come by.
We can’t call the deal a major surprise as both parties are currently working together already. At the beginning of the year, it was announced that Lopez would be starring in a Netflix film called “The Mother”.
In the movie, we’ll see Lopez as a female assassin that comes out of hiding to teach her daughter the ropes of the business. Reports indicate that Jlo has been hitting the gym harder than usual to prepare for her role in the film!
The second project in the deal is said to be a movie titled “The Cipher”. In this movie, we’ll most likely see Jen take on the role of FBI Special Agent Nina Guerrera. She’s drawn into looking into a serial killer’s case.
This project is set to include a lineup of successful women as executive producers. With the likes of Liza Fleissig, Ginger Harris-Dontzin, Catherine Hagedorn all set to be a part of the project. Those movies may not be the only collaboration Lopez and Netflix have.
Other than the 2 movies that have already been announced people from Netflix have hinted at the creation of some type of series with Lopez. Netflix head of global TV, Bela Bajaria told Variety,
“I’m looking forward to working with her and the team to create new series for our members to love.” While also praising Lopez as “a singular talent”.
Does the creation of this new series mean we’ll get to see Jlo in some type of reality show that mimics “Keeping Up With The Kardashians”? Variety claims that Netflix and Lopez are interested in doing “unscripted” T.V. so something like this may be possible.
Just to recap, we know 2 of the productions that Lopez and Netflix will work together on. There’s interest from both sides of doing some type of unscripted series potentially. How much is Jlo going to make from this deal? Well, at this point there has not been any information released about that part of the deal. Lopez did confirm the partnership saying,
“I am excited to announce my new partnership with Netflix. Elaine, Benny, and I believe there is no better home for us than a forward-leaning content creation company that seeks to defy conventional wisdom and directly market to the millions across the globe”
