Mayim Bialik is a 45-year-old actress, neuroscientist, author, and film director from San Diego, California. After starting her career in the NBC sitcom “Blossom,” she later became a household name after starring in CBS’s popular sitcom “The Big Bang Theory.”
Although the actress has confessed that she has struggled with some of the pronunciations of the different languages mentioned on the show, overall, she called becoming the next “Jeopardy!” host a “dream job.”
“I will say that for me personally, and academically speaking, this is a really, really, really lovely place that I felt so comfortable, and was really honored to be part of it in any way. But obviously feel very strongly that if people find me tolerable, this is a dream job,” she said.
What Do Fans Think?
Overall, most of the fan reactions have been extremely positive, as fans applauded her friendly and engaging demeanor.
“Mayim Bialik being great as a Jeopardy! host should surprise pretty much no one,” one fan tweeted.
“Mayim Bialik is doing great! Smart, controlled and confident. One of the best cohosts by far,” another added.
Another fan wrote, “Awww! I love Mayim Bialik as the host of #Jeopardy. Of course she’d be great. She’s sweet, personable & very smart.”
Not For Everyone
Although some fans found her positivity refreshing, others found her affable nature “annoying.”
“I don’t know if I can take another week of this woman,” one fan tweeted. “Too much giggling at times … hmmm, never saw Alex do that.”
“This will be another week of me wondering why she laughs at questions as if she can’t believe they are on Jeopardy or something,” another wrote. “Utterly annoying. We can barely watch.”
Other fans felt that some of her responses to contestants were condescending. “Never heard a host say ‘I knew that one’ before,” another fan wrote. “She’s super pretentious and seemingly adds to every answer she can.”
Although fans are divided over whether Bialik has proved she has what it takes to become the new permanent “Jeopardy!” host, one fan shared that she did a “good job, but I’m ready for someone else.”
While some fans still strongly support Ken Jennings or LeVar Burton to become the next permanent “Jeopardy!” host, the “Tournament of Champions” host Buzzy Cohen has wowed fans and become one of the new fan-favorites to take over the coveted role.
