Nobody was more proud of Simone Biles‘ record-setting performance than her NFL star boyfriend, Jonathan Owens!
Biles won her seventh national women’s all-around title at the US Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, on Sunday, June 6. The four-time Olympic gold medalist won with a score of 119.650, which was 4.7 points more than the runner-up. Simone’s Houston Texans star boyfriend when out of his way to skip an OTA (organized team practice activities) to watch his beau compete, and luckily she tumbled her way to the front of the pack for the seventh time. Owens was moved by her performance and commitment and penned an emotional tribute to his love.
Jonathan played the part of the perfect Instagram boyfriend and captured Simone’s magical moments on the mat from the stands. He cheered her on and, like the rest of us, marveled at Simone’s skills.
“What an amazing experience 👏🏽,” Owens wrote on social media. “First time getting to watch you compete in person and you didn’t disappoint. It’s so cool that i get to watch you do what you love, and be the best at that ‼️ I’m so proud of you my lil champ 🥰❤️ Trials up next and you already know I’m there!! Love you baby ❤️❤️.”
Simone quickly replied, “I love you so much 🤎 I’m so happy you got to come watch while in the middle of OTA’s 😘😘 you a real one.”
Simone confessed her true feelings for Jonathan when she joined Hoda Kotb on the “Today Show” in January. She was being interviewed about the postponed Tokyo Olympics, but Hoda was laser-focused on Owens and Biles’ relationship.
“He’s a real man,” Biles said when asked why they are so good together. “I love him, we have a great time together. Our personalities match right up, we have the same sense of humor, and he’s just great!”
“He’s an athlete too, so we really understand each other and I think that’s why our relationship has been seamless,” Simone told Hoda at the time. “He also has a bulldog, so besides him being a cherry on top, that was really amazing and our dogs get along well.”
