She’s finally here! Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s family has gone from 3 to 4, and they couldn’t be happier!
A spokesperson for the couple confirmed that Meghan gave birth to Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor on Friday, June 4, at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA. “She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home,” the statement, posted on Archewell charity website read.
Lili is the couple’s second child and becomes the little sister to 2-year-old Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.
The announcement included a full explanation of the baby girl’s unique name.
“Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.” The statement continued, “The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special time as a family.”
Meghan and Harry included a personal note in their announcement. “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe,” the couple wrote. “Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”
On behalf of the couple, the Archewell website asked people who are thinking about sending gifts to consider a charitable donation. “We would ask that you support or learn more about these organizations working for women and girls: Girls Inc., Harvest Home, CAMFED or Myna Mahila Foundation.”
