Payne has been ‘Directioners’ lifeline when it comes to releasing any news, updates or possible plans for a reunion.
After months of wondering about a reunion, he just delivered some exciting news.
As many die-hard One Direction fans know, 2020 marked the 10-year-anniversary of One Direction’s formation.
Fans’ hopes were high (like really high) for some sort of reunion, whether that be virtual or in person. However, given the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, any and all plans for in-person concerts and events were canceled indefinitely.
Fans’ dreams of a reunion unexpectedly came true when iHeart Radio announced they’d be releasing a video of UNSEEN One Direction moments on the actual date of their 10th anniversary.
Unfortunately, iHeart didn’t exactly deliver what the fans were hoping for with this one-minute and 40-second video.
Fans were expecting to see a long compilation of unseen footage from previous tours; however, many of them took to Twitter to share what they got instead. A short collection of concert footage that many of them had already seen before.
Check it out below!
Needless to say, they didn’t deliver, fans’ thirst was not quenched and the reunion NEVER happened.
But, fans have some new hope thanks again to Payne.
During a recent Instagram Live, Payne revealed that his good friend and former bandmate, Harry Styles, phoned him.
He revealed to fans that they had “a really lovely catchup.”
And some unknown facts of Styles were also dished. Payne said that Styles has a “sixth sense” for his bandmates.
“He called me because he has a sixth sense for if I’m struggling or if one of us is in trouble I feel like,” Payne admitted.
Seriously, could Styles BE anymore lovable?
Payne topped off this already drool-inducing ‘cake’ with these sentiments about Styles, “And I’ve got a lot of love for the man. He’s great, he’s really, really great.”
The phone call apparently led Payne to reminisce about his One Direction days, and he even admitted he missed his former bandmates.
“It’s hard in this position sometimes, you’re watching people’s stories from afar that you used to know so well. That can be difficult when you feel like a piece of you is missing with them at that point,” said Payne.
He continued, “I think we’ve all felt this at different times, me and the boys.”
So, where do plans for a reunion come in to play?
Payne said he would love to get all the guys in a room at some point, adding, “There’s a song in there somewhere.”
And Directioners are here, actually, they’ve been here for over a decade! Feel free to serve that up ANY TIME!
July 23rd will mark One Direction’s 11-year-anniversary.
Now that the world is re-opening, who knows what tricks the guys have up their sleeves!
