The ‘NSYNC’ star made the announcement today, saying the couple is expecting their first children — a boy-girl set of twins. The couple sat down for a lengthy interview to discuss their struggles with surrogacy attempts, and a miscarriage.
“It has been quite the journey,” Bass said of the situation. The singer revealed in the interview that the couple attempted IVF treatments with a surrogate and lost a set of twin babies to miscarriage.
The story is incredible and includes running into an old friend who connected them with a new surrogate, which ultimately led to this amazing announcement.

“When we were pregnant last year, our surrogate miscarried while being pregnant with twins. When you fast forward and be like, “Oh, what’s the wedding going to be like? Oh, if they’re going to have kids, I’m going to be a grandparent?” Like you just automatically just put this in your head. And it’s very disappointing when that dream gets popped,” Lance told People.
“This time around, we had to start all over again from the beginning. Not only did we need to get a new egg donor now because we found out she had early lupus, but on top of that, when we did our egg retrieval, we only had two healthy embryos. Normally, the number’s much higher. So we put both in and once she miscarried, we had to start all over from scratch again this past year,” his husband continued.

Interestingly, the couple said they found their current surrogate through a friend — actor Tayor Frey — after running into him at a Los Angeles restaurant. It just so happened, to walk by on a street, after not seeing each other for a long time.
“His agency introduced us to this one surrogate and she ended up being a great match. And the same with the egg donor,” Michael said.
The couple says the process was lengthy and emotional, with Michael saying, “We went through nine different egg donors, which is rare. We picked a donor for some of them. We got all the way down the path of about to retrieve their eggs.”
The couple, who has been married since 2014, is expecting the twins in November.
