Suzanne Somers is no stranger to change. The 74-year-old actress has gone through many transitions throughout her career. Somers first rose to fame on the ABC sitcom “Three’s Company.” However, after four seasons, Somers departed the show in 1980.
Since then Somers has continued to act, but she’s now more famous as a businesswoman and health guru. In the 90s, Somers’ gained attention for her Thighmaster commercials. Since then she’s became a successful businesswoman with her fashion, cosmetics, and health care lines. Between her acting and business ventures, Somers has earned herself a hefty net worth of $100 million.
Palm Springs Abode
With all the millions she’s made over the years, Somers can indulge in some spending. One of the star’s first purchases among hitting it big was a Palm Springs mansion. Somers and her husband Alan Hamel bought the estate back in 1977.
The couple had some good times in their Palm Springs abode, but there were also some scary ones. In February of this year, Somers was doing a stream on Facebook Live when a naked intruder entered her home. Fans watching the livestream called the cops and the man was later apprehended.
Putting The House On The Market
Somers’ Palm Springs home has been on and off the market since 2008. The original asking price was $35 million. However, throughout the years the price has dropped. In January, Somers and Hamel once again put their home on the market.
After nearly a decade of receiving little interest, a buyer finally purchased the home. Somers earned $8.5 million from the sale of the mansion. The new owners will enjoy lots of amenities from the seven bedroom, 10 bath compound. Aside from its large space, the home also has a swimming pool, meditation garden, and wine cellar.
Sexy And Eco-Friendly New Home
After selling their Palm Springs spread, Somers revealed that she and Hamel are constructing a new home. Somers calls her new pad “sexy” and “eco-friendly” while talking about the place’s features. The actress’ house will include solar power along with an organic garden.
Another special feature Somers made sure to include in the construction is a “passion pit.” Suzanne explains the pit is a carpeted area in front of a fireplace, where she and Hamel love to canoodle. Given how lovey dovey the two are, it’s no surprise Somers wanted this feature in her new home.
So when will Somers and Hamel move into their new abode? Not for a couple more months. Construction is slated to be finished in September, and until they can move in, the couple is staying in their Palm Springs house.
Felt It Was Ready To Move
After putting the Palm Springs estate on and off the market for the past decade, Somers decided it was time to finally say goodbye. “It sold because I finally let it go – emotionally, spiritually, and physically.”
The couple had plenty of fond memories hosting gatherings with family and friends. Although, their loved ones can still visit at their new home, Suzanne says it won’t be nearly as spacious as their previous one. However, the actress is excited about her new digs, and with its features, she and Hamel are sure to have a lot of fun.
