Ed Sheeran is a 30-year-old English singer-songwriter from Halifax, United Kingdom. After getting his start through YouTube, Sheeran has gone on to win many awards, including the 2016 Grammy Award for Song of the Year and the 2018 Billboard Music Award for Top Artist.
Although he usually entertains his 32.3 million Instagram followers with behind-the-scenes looks at his latest releases, Sheeran recently opened up about the changes he has made to his diet and fitness habits to help him lose weight.

Stopping Bad Habits
The Grammy winner said that his health improved after he stopped touring and stopped consuming “chicken wings and two bottles of wine a night.”
“It’s the first time I’ve been really healthy,” he explained. “I’ve kind of stopped all the bad habit stuff in my life. Started exercising every day. I was eating like a takeaway every single day, and now I don’t eat takeaway every single day and it’s been good.”
After the “Shape of You” singer stopped smoking, he found it easier to start a new exercise routine.
“I stopped smoking three years ago and then ever since then started exercising. I love it,” he said, adding that his routine usually consists of 45 minutes of running in the morning, occasionally combined with sit-ups or swimming.

“I started doing it because when I stopped smoking, I was very aware that my lungs were so full of s— that I needed to clear them out,” he added. “Gyms are good but there’s nothing like fresh air to really give you a clean out. That’s, for me, the main reason why I started doing it.”
Cutting Out Beer
Although many people would balk at the idea of giving up their favorite alcoholic beverage, Sheeran knew he had to make some changes when the only thing that would fit him were his sweatpants.
“Sweatpants were the only things that fit and I just thought everything had shrunk in the wash, but it hadn’t,” he joked.
The decision, which he made back in 2017, helped him lose over 50 pounds.
“Now I’m back on beer, because I’m fine, but I cut out beer for a bit and started exercising, which was quite weird,” he said at the time.
Although he has lost weight while being off-tour, he also reveals that his performances often require a great deal of movement.
“I jump up and down on boxes, when I’m finished I’m drenched in sweat. I do jump around quite a bit,” he revealed. “And just under those lights, just sweating, you drop off a bunch.”
