Kristin Cavallari is facing a tough crowd as her bikini tan line showoff gains negative comments. The 34-year-old “Laguna Beach” star and entrepreneur was all jokes as she rocked a little black two-piece on her recent Palm Springs, CA vacation, with the photo shared with Cavallari’s Instagram followers clearly going for a light-hearted vibe. Kristin, followed by 4.1 million, had joked that “tan lines are in” as she showed hers off, but a reply from a skin cancer sufferer has kicked off drama. Check it out below.
Scroll for the photo. Kristin has been big-time joking on her Instagram of late, even kicking up both legs while her head hangs in the kitchen sink for a home hair dye session. The Uncommon James founder, who has just launched her Uncommon Beauty brand, was here back in her swimwear, looking sensational in a super-stylish black bikini as she posed in the shade and on an outdoor path amid greenery.
Rocking discreet jewelry and showing off her rock-hard abs, Kristin wrote: “Tan lines are in.”
While over 100,000 fans sent the MTV face the thumbs-up, not everyone was digging it. Criticism similar to that faced by GOOP founder Gwyneth Paltrow this year (she revealed only dabbing sunscreen on areas of her face that the sun hits), manifested, with the OP kicking things off as they wrote:
“Don’t promote tanning, I have skin cancer. As do many.” A user replying even likened Kristin’s photo to promoting “smoking.” Keep scrolling for the rest of the storm after the photo.
Replies to the damning comment took different routes. “Agreed basal cell on my nose from tanning!!” one user wrote. Then again, others just went for the please lighten up. A fan backing the mom of three fired back, writing:
“Typical Karen portraying your thoughts on the other people’s actions stay home hide in your house.” Pointing out another possibility, one follower said: “Y’all do understand that you can get tan lines from spray tans, right? You can also end up with tan lines even when you’re wearing sunscreen. People need to settle down a little bit.”

Joining the likes of reality faces-turned-beauty ones such as Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner, Kristin is now CEO of her own beauty brand: Uncommon Beauty launched this month. The clean beauty label is, per Cavallari, the result of a “need for a skin-care line that is, in fact, clean while still being effective. So we decided to launch Uncommon Beauty.”
“I was using high-end products that I thought were relatively clean, and it came back that, in fact, they’re not clean at all,” she added. Scroll for a reality face in beauty that might surprise you.
