Nina Dobrev is really into fitness, but it wasn’t always that way for the Vampire Diaries star. Her journey to better health began in 2017. She shared with Shape magazine that she eats more now but feels way healthier, more than she ever has. She has continued to advocate for a healthy lifestyle and regularly shares her outings with her 23 million followers on Instagram.

She Starts Her Day With A Workout
Dobrev is not the first celebrity to use this “badass” trick and it really works too. Working out in the morning not only gets your workout for the day finished but you generally feel more energized after kickstarting your body. The actor’s day starts out something like this, but it includes walking her dog and giving herself enough time to relax in the steam room and shower. “I need to sweat every single day somehow, even if it’s just in the steam room.” She also admits that some days are “harder” than others, she just focuses on what she can do at that moment. She describes her honesty in moments like this as badass because of how true she is being to herself it helps relieve the pressures of her own expectations.
The ‘Workout Cocktail’
The actress who once shared with enthusiasm with Women’s Health magazine that she just “loves” working out says that she sticks to what she calls a “workout cocktail”. That is a mixture of yoga, weight training, boxing, running, and even some group classes if she gets the opportunity.
“Doing something different [each day] has been the most fun, and I’ve seen the most benefit because you shock your system,” she shared with the magazine. She now confidently describes herself as “skinny fat” in a positive way. The mixture of workouts tests her abilities and gives her confidence to always try new things because you just might be good at it.
Tricks Help Finish Workouts
Don’t get it twisted, Dobrev may sound like a powerhouse but she admits that she has to “trick herself” into getting through a workout sometimes and it doesn’t make her less of a badass, if anything it makes her more of because of the accountability it forces her to take. Her trick is music.
“Music is a big part of my training and my life,” admitting that even before she had a trainer, she would use music to motivate herself. “I would go to the gym and go on the treadmill and whenever it was the chorus I would sprint and whenever it was not the chorus I would just jog.” Anything with a beat can help her find her rhythm.
Eating Plays A Big Part
Dobrev admits that as she has gotten older, she has become more aware of what she is putting into her body. You are what you eat, and her skin and those abs look like she is eating very well. The yoga lover limits processed foods and sugars and focuses on eating as clean as she can. However, she admits that this revelation took her a while to find out. In the meantime, she tried a lot of other ways to stay healthy and lose weight including going vegan for a while and low carb diets.
