For the last few years, Soulja Boy has been trying to make a return to the spotlight by making claims of himself being the first to do a myriad of things. Many on social media at this point believe that the rapper is making these claims just to be boastful, but others believe that there is clear evidence to back his claims up. The latest one by Big Soulja is of being the first rapper to put their music on YouTube, 16 years ago.
Soulja Boy Attempts To Provide Proof Of His Claim
Soulja Boy posted a tweet saying “I was the first rapper on YouTube.” He also included a paragraph detailing how Soulja appeared on YouTube in March 2006. YouTube initially launched in December 2005.
“For starters, consider this fact: After a months-long beta period, YouTube officially launched on December 15, 2005 with a daily traffic around eight million views. Soulja Boy uploaded his first video just three months afterward, solidly characterizing him as an early adopter.”
Soulja’s Name Started Buzzing Again In 2019
Soulja stormed back onto the scene back in January 2019 by making tons of claims. These included having the best comeback of 2018 and discovering rappers such as Migos, Famous Dex, Rich The Kid, and Chief Keef. Soulja also claimed on “The Breakfast Club” that he was a big influence on Drake. Later that year, Soulja ended up being arrested after claims by a woman that he tied her up in his home. His probation was also violated by having possession of a firearm. After being in prison for thee months, Soulja remained low key on social media.
Soulja Boy Has Another Hit Single Out
At the same time though, Soulja is making noise for his music as well. This is for his new “She Make It Clap” single, which ended up being huge on TikTok as it became a top song on there and also received its own dance. “She Make It Clap” also went on to be number one on the US Billboard Top Triller chart. This record is still red-hot as more videos are being posted on TikTok and other apps of women dancing to it.
Soulja Boy Blew Up In 2007
Soulja initially made a name for himself in the spring of 2007, with his breakout hit single, “Crank That (Soulja Boy).” This single soared to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart that May and 14 years later, is certified 3x platinum in the US. Crank That was viewed as one of the biggest dance songs of the decade and is still being praised for its impact on social media at the time as well. Currently, it has over 483 million views on YouTube.
