Adam Levine is an American singer and songwriter whose departure from the music talent show “The Voice” is still a mystery to fans.
Fans of the show loved witnessing his coaching skills as well as his incredible personality and relationship with his co-judges and contestants. One can say that he was atop the list of most-loved coaches on the show.
Hhis constant bickering and teasing moments with co-coach Blake Shelton, has become one of the show’s highlights. This is why viewers were distraught when he suddenly left the show.
Read below for more information and possible reasons for his absence.
A True Friendship
Since the beginning of the show in 2011, Levine and Shelton have remained the top choices for many contestants who come on the show.
Over the years, the duo formed a beautiful friendship/work relationship built on trust and respect for one another.
For the first few seasons, Levine partnered with three amazing winners on the show. In season one, his protege Javier Colon won, then in season five Tessanne Chin scored a victory. Finally in season nine, Jordan Smith emerged victorious.
Surprisingly, during his last seasons, he stopped producing winners, even finalists.
Levine Was Criticised For Not Backing Up A Singer
During Levine’s time on the show, a time came when the singer faced major criticism for something he did that fans were not pleased with.
He had two artists in the top ten named Reagan Strange and DeAndre Nico. Sadly, the singers ended up in the bottom three of that season, whereby one was eliminated.
Reports confirmed that the two artists had a chance to save themselves through a performance, but Strange wasn’t feeling well, so she was unable to perform. Nevertheless, there was still hope if her fans voted for her.
To the surprise of viewers, Levine asked fans to vote for the female singer, in place of Nico who actually performed beautifully. He ended up being eliminated from the show, which didn’t sit well with viewers.
Why Levine May Have Left ‘The Voice’
Prior to his departure, Levine didn’t have any artists on the show, and the coaches were asked to shoot a pre recorded film in May 2019.
Per to “TVline,” Levine was annoyed and reluctant to shoot because he had no artist.
This also came after he shared a lengthy post on Instagram about how honored he was to be part of the show. Fans think this was the reason for his departure. The show’s execs were reportedly not happy with him either.
Another reason may have been because of changes that were made to the show, like the Live Cross Battles which were removed in season 17. After 16 seasons with the show, the “Girls Like You” singer said his goodbyes.
Wipe Your Tears! He’s Back
After Levine left in 2019, he stayed clear from the show. However, he kept in touch with his friends and co-judges, especially Shelton.
Although he revealed to a fan during an Instagram Q&A, that he was done with the show, recent rumors suggested otherwise.
It turned out that an official Instagram post confirmed that Levine will return as a guest for season 20. The post also mentioned that the singer will perform with his band Maroon 5.
Also, “Body” singer, Megan Thee Stallion will perform “Beautiful Mistakes,” alongside the band during the show’s finale.
