The premise of the film is relatively simple. Boyega stars as Moses, who bands his mates together in order to take out the extraterrestrials that are trying to destroy his South London neighborhood.

The film has reached sci-fi cult status and has a certified fresh approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes

It also stunned critics when it won the Audience Award at the SXSW and Los Angeles film festivals.

Boyega couldn't hide his enthusiasm for the sequel, saying, "It’s been a decade since 'Attack the Block' was released and so much has changed since then. I’m excited to see this heightened story return to the streets of London. Moses has remained one of my favourite characters to play and bringing him back is a huge honour."

"I’m thrilled we’re officially announcing our return to the world of 'Attack the Block' on the tenth anniversary of the film’s release," Cornish added. "I can’t wait to work alongside John again, bringing audiences an even bigger slice of inner-city alien action."

Although his role as Finn in the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy made him a household name, his character, which had a starring role in the first film, took a backseat in the second and almost disappeared entirely by the third act.

Boyega has been a vocal critic of the franchise, saying, “What I would say to Disney is do not bring out a black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are and then have them pushed to the side. It’s not good. I’ll say it straight up.”

He continued, “What they want you to say is, ‘I enjoyed being a part of it. It was a great experience...’ Nah, nah, nah. I’ll take that deal when it’s a great experience. They gave all the nuance to Adam Driver, all the nuance to Daisy Ridley. Let’s be honest. Daisy knows this. Adam knows this. Everybody knows. I’m not exposing anything.”

"The Mandalorian" actress Gina Carano has also been vocal about the "bullying" she received from Lucasfilm. Keep scrolling to read more on that below!
