Its been years, 17 years, to be clear, when the most lovable sextet of friends left their life and went to have coffee. The last episode of “Friends” ended with Rachel and Ross together, Monica and Chandler and their two babies, Phoebe married to Mike and Joey, of course, still the same loose cannon.
Fans have been waiting forever, it seems, to see the six back, and while things and life has changed for the cast: Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc – its like they never really left.
Here’s what we know about the Reunion, and why its very real now…
The One In Which They All Got Back Together
On May 6, 17 years ago, the series finale of “Friends” went on air, for it to go off air. So sure, reruns ran amok, and its only recently that the show finally left Netflix, to join HBO Max.
And since then, the reunion is being teased and it would have been shot and aired, had the Coronavirus pandemic not happened. Of course, the alternate reality to no Coronavirus is intriguing, but we are going off the point here.
Finally though, the reunion is happening. And what’s more exciting, is that we, have a date…
But first, here’s a little something from Phoebe Buffet…
Can We BE Any Happier?
We don’t have to wait much longer because the “Friends” reunion special will air on HBO Max on May 27. Finally, whew!
And even the production team feels the same way, as they announced it with a big banner on the official Instagram page, with the caption, “That’s a wrap! ? Could we BE anymore excited!? Friends: The Reunion is coming to @hbomax. #friendsreunion“
What do fans say? How about “The one where I can’t wait ?” or “could I BE any more impatient?”
If the “BE” thing works for you, here’s what Matthew Perry has been up to, and David Beckham endorses…
Do We NEED Anymore Guest Stars?
All six will be present for the show. Thank God. The creators, Marta Kauffman and David Crane will be executive producers for the show, and Kevin Bright is in there as well.
And there’s a slew of guest stars, David Beckham being one. The rest of the names are equally big and exciting. There’s Justin Bieber, BTS, and Lady Gaga. Tom Selleck and Larry Hankin from the original cast will also be there, as will be Kit Harington, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Mindy Kaling, Reese Witherspoon and Malala Yousafzai, some of whom you did see on the show…
Fans are happy but have a question. Where’s Paul Rudd? Or Jon Favreau? Or Cole Sprouse?
Friends, But Not ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S’
To those hoping that this show would be a wonderful blast into the past and show where the lives of the onscreen friends are today, prepare to be disappointed. The “Friends” reunion is not a new episode of the show, its simply the cast and the crew getting together and reminiscing about the good ol’ times.
It will still be a wonderful watch and to see the real camaraderie between the main actors is always a delight. Especially since they have come so far in life.
And if you are getting too antsy, here’s a little sneak peek into the the “Friends” reunion.
Warning: Keep the tissues handy.
