All the talk about there being some type of reconciliation between Prince Harry and The Royal Family may have just gone out the window! The Duke of Sussex appeared on the
Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shepard and talked about his former royal life openly.
Through the interview, he reveals that leaving the royals was actually something that he’d thought about way before Meghan Markle came on the scene. This leaves many people thinking that the drama of the split is a fabrication of the couple more than anything else. Since they always had the intention of stepping away.
In the interview, one of the things that Harry mentioned was that he was in his early 20’s the first time that he thought about leaving. Interestingly enough, he mentioned that he didn’t love the idea of having to grin for the cameras and make it look like everything is ok. That’s kind of what he does now anyway though.

He told Dax Shepard, “It’s the job right? Grin and bear it. Get on with it. I was in my early 20s and I was thinking I don’t want this job, I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to be doing this,”

In another part of the interview he mentioned,
“Look what it did to my mum. How am I ever going to settle down and have a wife and family, when I know it’s going to happen again?”
The problem is, Diana’s life became even worse when she left the Royal Family on bad terms. Particularly when she waived her right to security provided by the Palace. It looks like Harry is making a point to make his Royal split as controversial or more so than his mother’s! That doesn’t seem like a good way to make sure you avoid a suspicious car crash.
Harry described a meeting that he had with Meghan Markle at a London supermarket before he asked her to move in with him. he mentioned,
“The first time Meghan and I met up for her to come and stay with me, we met up in a supermarket in London, pretending we didn’t know each other, texting each other from the other side of the aisles,”
You’ve got a ton of palaces that you can use, and you’re looking for privacy in a supermarket that’s a good idea. He later said that being royal is a mixture of ” a mix between The Truman Show and living in a zoo.”
In saying, “I’ve seen behind the curtain, I’ve seen the business model and seen how this whole thing works and I don’t want to be part of this,” Harry closed the door on a royal comeback pretty much for good.
The issue is, does he mind the job or does he mind being an employee? He’s now charging sometimes even millions of dollars per public appearance. Something that he would have had to do as part of his royal position anyway. Now he doesn’t have to follow palace rules and he can name his own price. The job though is pretty much the same!
