Chrissy Teigen has issued a public apology to reality TV star Courtney Stodden for bullying her online while she was a teenager. Teigen tweeted, “I’m so sorry, Courtney, I hope you can heal now knowing how deeply sorry I am.” Came under fire from followers who couldn’t believe that Teigen would “so much energy” on bullying a then 16-year-old Stodden. Now 26, Stodden became famous when she married Lost actor Doug Hutchison who was 51-years-old at the time.
Finally An Acknowledgement
The couple ultimately ended their relationship in 2013 which prompted a lot of horrible comments from social media users. However, Stodden pointed out in a video posted on her Instagram in early 2021 that Teigen’s comments stood out to her because she was a huge celebrity at the time, and she was one of the only people telling her that she “should kill herself”. During an interview with The Daily Beast Stodden shared just how bad it got. “She wouldn’t just publicly tweet about wanting me to take ‘a dirt nap’ but would privately DM me and tell me to kill myself. Things like, ‘I can’t wait for you to die.”
Was The Apology Sincere?
Initially, when Stodden revealed the bullying incident, Teigen was radio silent essentially ignoring the accusations against her. However, she now seems to be seeing the error of her ways. Her apology continued “Not a lot of people are lucky enough to be held accountable for all their past bulls–t in front of the entire world.” Adding, “I’m mortified and sad at who I used to be.” The former model explained the headspace she was in during the time she decided to bully a teenager online.
Courtney Doesn’t Think It Is
“I was an insecure, attention seeking troll. I am ashamed and completely embarrassed at my behavior but that…is nothing compared to how I made Courtney feel.” She also apologized to her fans for her atrocious behavior. “And I am so sorry I let you guys down. I will forever work on being better than I was 10 years ago, 1 year ago, 6 months ago.” Unfortunately for Teigen, her apology may be too little too late as Stodden is having a hard time accepting her apology.
Chrissy Still Has Courtney Blocked
“I accept her apology and forgive her. But the truth remains the same, I have never heard from her or her camp in private,” shared Stodden who states that she is “blocked” on Twitter and even shared a screenshot proving that Teigen still has her blocked. “All of me wants to believe this is a sincere apology, but it feels like a public attempt to save her partnerships with Target and other brands who are realizing her ‘wokeness’ is a broken record.”
