Ellen DeGeneres is one celebrity who is always making news. The actress turned talk show host’s career has been filled with ups and downs. The comedian gained notoriety in 1997 after revealing she was gay. At the time, she was starring on the self titled ABC sitcom “Ellen.” Shortly after DeGeneres went public, her show was cancelled and her career began to falter.
But DeGeneres made a comeback in 2003 with her talk show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” DeGeneres became a hit with her new role as talk show host and won a slew of Daytime Emmy Awards. Although, DeGeneres has come under fire recently for allegations about mistreating her staff. Despite the controversy, Ellen’s still has her loyal followers who tune in daily for her show.
Real Estate Whiz
Although, DeGeneres is known mainly for her acting and talk show, she’s also a whiz when it comes to real estate. A majority of her $370 million net worth came from properties she has sold over the years. Since 2003, DeGeneres has purchased and sold 20 houses.
Last month, DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi put their Beverly Hills home on the market. The couple brought the house from Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine in 2019. Yet, as with many of DeGeneres’ former homes, the talk show host didn’t live in it long. After two years, she and Portia decided it was time to move again.
DeGeneres’ Beverly Hills Home
Ellen and Portia’s former Beverly Hills home is quite impressive. The five-bedroom house includes two renovated kitchens, a dining room with bar, and a library. As for amenities, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained.
The estate features an outdoor entertaining area with majestic views of the canyon. A heated pool and a sunken tennis court provide guest with plenty of activities. Aside from the outdoor amenities, the interior of the home includes a gym and a theater.
Ellen and Portia’s original asking price for the abode was $53.5 million. However, after a few weeks the price was reduced to $47 million. Shortly, after the price slash, DeGeneres’ home was sold.
Ellen’s New Roommate
After selling their Beverly Hills home, Ellen and Portia were without a place to live. While the couple is searching for their next house, they’re bunking with a famous pal. “Friends” actress Courteney Cox was gracious enough to open up her home to Ellen and Portia.
However, when news originally broke about DeGeneres living with Cox, tabloids speculated problems between Ellen and Portia. Ellen would then address the rumors on her show. “I’m not having marital troubles. I’m not living with Courteney Cox because I’m kicked out of my house,” DeGeneres explained to viewers.
What Does Cox Think Of Her New Roommate?
Having DeGeneres and Cox living together sounds like the makings of a sitcom. During an appearance on DeGeneres’ talk show on Thursday, the two women discussed their living situation. As to be expected, being roommates does have its humorous side.
Cox told a story about sending her assistant to check on the house. Courteney would later learn from her assistant that Ellen’s stuff was on Cox’s designated side. “It was like, all of a sudden. Wait a minute. Ellen’s toothbrush is on my side.” Cox then joked that Ellen was a “terrible roommate”, and DeGeneres teasingly claimed Portia was the one responsible for taking over Courteney’s side.
