Love is literally at the center of everything Diddy does!
Sean “Diddy” Combs legally switched his middle name from Jean to Love and proudly showed off the proof on Monday, May 3. “Look what I just got in the mail today… ??✨⚡️IT’S OFFICIAL!!! WELCOME TO THE LOVE ERA,” he captioned a photo of his new Florida driver’s license.
He also included a photo of himself writing all the iterations of his name throughout his life, starting with Puffy and ending with Love. As if that wasn’t enough proof for his skeptical fans, he followed the driver’s license post up with a snippet of the legal name change documents. “Imma need y’all to take me seriously on this one!!! ?? #TheLoveEra
LOVE ??✨⚡️,” he said.
The music mogul originally filed official documents for the name change with the Los Angeles County Court in 2019, but just got his license issued in Florida.
In 2017, the star discussed a love-related name change but it was supposed to be Brother Love at the time. “I decided to change my name again,” he said in a viral social media video. “I’m just not who I am before…I’m something different…so my new name is love .. aka brother love…I will not be answering to puffy diddy puff daddy or any of my other monikers, but love or brother love, ok… it’s my birthday. I feel good god is the greatest. I give all the glory, and I thank my momma and daddy.”
However, Diddy got cold feet and said that he will answer to all his previous names. “Due to an overwhelming response from the media out there, and just due to there not wanting to be any confusion, I was only joking. I didn’t change my name. It’s just part of one of my alter egos, and one my alter egos is Love.”
He added, “But to set the record straight, because I have a lot of press to do the next couple weeks, you can address me by any of my older names, but if you still want to call me Love, you can call me Love, baby.”
It’s no joke now, and he has the paperwork to prove it!
