While Josh Duggar remains behind bars after being charged with receiving child pornography, the former reality star has been told he cannot return home to his wife and 6 children, if he is to get out of jail.
33-year-old Duggar appeared Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Arkansas via Zoom, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. He was charged with one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
Josh Duggar pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him, and he has not yet been awarded bail.
According to PEOPLE, U.S Chief Magistrate Judge Erin L. Wiedemann told Josh if he is released on bond from the Arkansas jail, he must find a “residence where there’s no minor in the home.”
Duggar and his wife, Anna, currently have 6 children with another on the way, and the judge made it clear he is not allowed to be in the home with the minors due to the nature of his charges.
Josh Duggar has not made any big statements, other than letting the judge in his case know he understood the charges against him. After court on Friday, his legal team made a statement to the media about their plans to prove Duggar’s innocence.
“Josh Duggar has been charged in a two-count indictment. He has pled not guilty to both charges and we intend to defend this case aggressively and thoroughly,” attorneys Justin Gelfand, Travis W. Story and Greg Payne said in a statement.
They added, “In this country, no one can stop prosecutors from charging a crime. But when you’re accused, you can fight back in the courtroom — and that is exactly what Josh intends to do.”
In the wake of Josh Duggar’s arrest, his parents, “19 Kids & Counting” stars Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, have issued a statement about the situation.
“We appreciate your continued prayers for our family at this time,” the statement on the Duggar family website reads.
It continues, “The accusations brought against Joshua today are very serious. It is our prayer that the truth, no matter what it is, will come to light, and that this will all be resolved in a timely manner. We love Josh and Anna and continue to pray for their family.”
