Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are still feeling the backlash of the interview that they gave to Oprah Winfrey a couple of months back. Harry’s trip back home for his grandfather’s funeral gave a lot of “royal experts” in the UK a chance to see him interacting with his family.
What many of these experts claim is that Harry seemed to feel very awkward at the funeral. As anyone would just weeks removed from throwing shade at their family members and then seeing them again for the first time. Experts anticipate some tension in the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Duncan Larcombe the former editor of the “Royals” section of “The Sun”, and author of “Prince Harry: The Inside Story,” told the outlet:
“Harry was clearly hurt and angry about Meghan’s experience with the royals.”
The interview, in his opinion, was a way for Harry to release all of the anger that he felt. In the interview itself, it’s clear that Harry was not pleased with the way that people inside the palace had treated Meghan. The problem is the backlash of the interview seems to have come back to bite him!
In L.A. Harry did not feel the heat of the backlash of the interview as much. His return home though, allowed him to realize the effects of the interview on his family. Duncan Larcombe mentions,
“Coming home has reminded him of everything he’s sacrificed in recent years… and of the recent damage done,”
For Larcombe, the consequences of the interview were not just the cold shoulder that he undoubtedly received from certain family members. He feels Harry will outright regret his decision.
“He’s now facing the consequences. I believe he’ll regret that interview, and his decision to leave the royals”.
One of the biggest realizations that Harry may have had on his return was the fact that he is likely never going to be able to set up residence back in the UK. At least as long as he remains married to Markle.
On the other hand, Markle is “in her element” living in Southern California according to Larcombe. That is a pretty obvious statement as Meghan grew up in southern California. What is true though is that now Harry is the outsider. This leads royal experts to believe that tension in the marriage is bound to be on the horizon.
As if there was not enough backlash for Harry to deal with, it’s been announced that the interview will get its own TV special. The special will air on Discovery Channel+. Not really sure when Discovery Channel started covering these types of topics, but ok.
The special is going to feature a panel of body language and linguistics experts. These experts are literally going to break down everything that was said in the interview. Of course, the Duke and Duchess are set to continue to profit from this. It could be the final straw that will see them banned from the Royal Family for good!
