With the death of Prince Philip, many people in the media and social media have been speculating how things are going to change when the inevitable comes and Queen Elizabeth passes away. Prince Charles is set to become king that hasn’t changed.
There is one detail though, that has never been truly ironed out. Will Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall become Queen Camilla? Tom Parker Bowles, her son, seems to think that this is something that is still up in the air.
On Thursday Tom Parker Bowles the son of Andrew Parker Bowles and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall spoke to The Times. In the interview, he was asked about the potential of his mother officially becoming queen. Parker Bowles mentioned that he did not have clear information on the matter. However, it seems that her family still hopes that will be the case.
Parker Bowles mentioned, “That hasn’t been decided. There are a lot of interesting Sky documentaries about that I’m sure, but I honestly don’t know if that’s true.”
When Parker Bowles mentioned that “nothing had been decided” he was essentially lying. If he’s not lying then someone else is. Back in 2005 when his mother married Prince Charles the Palace issued a statement that essentially would put to rest all of the rumors. The statement clearly mentions,
“Mrs. Parker Bowles will use the title HRH The Duchess of Cornwall after marriage. It is intended that Mrs. Parker Bowles should use the title HRH The Princess Consort when The Prince of Wales accedes to The Throne.”
The family knows what this statement reads. Are they trying to make a push to reverse the original decision of her not being called queen?
Watching your mother’s affair play out in a TV series must not be an easy thing to deal with. However, Parker Bowles did mention that he had seen the show. He had praise for the show but did criticize its accuracy when portraying certain events and particularly his father’s character. He told Times,
“The Crown is beautifully filmed and beautifully acted but complete bollocks mostly,” he then added, “I saw a bit with my dad and thought, ‘God, you’ve got him wrong”
Tom was also asked about the complicated time that his stepbrothers seem to be having in their relationship. This wasn’t a topic that he was so open about. As he mentioned that it was not something that had to do with him. Therefore, he stays out of the sibling rivalry.
He did add though that it was his hope that things would work out in the end between the brothers. A bit of drama or sibling discord is something that happens in all families after all.
