Jeff Bezos recently denied reports that he and his fiancée, Lauren Sánchez, would marry in Aspen next weekend, calling the rumors "completely false."
Despite excitement about wedding planning, Sánchez earlier revealed that they haven't finalized details but are considering a destination wedding.
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez, who have been together since 2018, got engaged in 2023 when the billionaire proposed with a 20-carat pink diamond.
Jeff Bezos Denies $600 Million Wedding Rumors
Bezos took to social media to shut down a report that he and fiancée Sánchez were getting married next weekend in Aspen.
On Saturday, the Daily Mail claimed that the Amazon founder and the journalist were set to marry in Aspen, Colorado, on December 28 and had reserved the upscale sushi spot Matsuhisa ahead of the big day.
A source told the news outlet that the extravagant celebration would cost over $600 million. However, Bezos set the record straight by Sunday, branding the report "false."
"This whole thing is completely false — none of this is happening," he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "The old adage 'don't believe everything you read' is even more true today than it ever has been. Now lies can get ALL the way around the world before the truth can get its pants on. So be careful out there folks and don't be gullible."
Bezos added: "Will be interesting to see if all the outlets that 'covered' and re-reported on this issue a correction when it comes and goes and doesn't happen."
Lauren Sánchez Shares Wedding Planning Insights
The "false" wedding report comes after Sánchez hinted at her excitement, revealing on "The Today Show" last month that she's been using Pinterest for wedding inspiration.
"I have to say, I do have a Pinterest — I'm just like every other bride, so I do have a Pinterest board," she admitted, adding that she's exploring different ideas for her wedding dress. "I'm thinking about the dress."
In a November 2023 interview with Vogue Magazine, the former broadcaster mentioned that she and Bezos are considering a destination wedding but have yet to finalize plans.
"We're still thinking about the wedding," she said. "What it's going to be. Is it going to be big? Is it going to be overseas? We don't know yet. We've only been engaged for five months!"
Lauren Sánchez Speaks About Cozy Nights And TV Binge Sessions With Jeff Bezos
In an August interview with People Magazine, Sánchez shared a glimpse into her life with the billionaire. Despite their lavish lifestyle, she revealed that some of their favorite moments are simple and low-key.
"My favorite time is when the house is calm and quiet, and Jeff and I are deciding what show we're going to binge that night," Sánchez said.
She admitted they often disagree on what to watch, adding: "It takes a little bit of time to decide," Sánchez said. "You can imagine our tastes are a little different. But I love our TV time, we just have the best time."
Sánchez also highlighted some of the shows she and Bezos have enjoyed watching together.
"We recently watched 'Baby Reindeer' — like everyone else. 'Fallout' was amazing too. We just finished 'Presumed Innocent,' which was incredible," she said. "Oh, and we absolutely loved 'Severance."
Jeff Bezos And Lauren Sánchez's Love Story
Bezos and Sánchez have been inseparable since they began dating in 2018. Their relationship became public in early 2019, shortly after the billionaire and his ex-wife announced their divorce. Page Six revealed the romance just days after the news went viral.
Engagement rumors first surfaced in December 2019 when Sánchez was seen wearing a massive heart-shaped ring.
At the time, she was separated from talent executive Patrick Whitesell, with whom she shares two children, Ella (16) and Evan (18).
She also has a 23-year-old son, Nikko, from her previous relationship with NFL player Tony Gonzalez.
Bezos, who shares three children with ex-wife MacKenzie Scott, finally proposed to Sánchez last year aboard his mega-yacht with a $2.5 million cushion-cut pink diamond.
Lauren Sánchez Recalls How The Billionaire Proposed To Her
In an interview with Vogue, Sánchez, 53, shared the unforgettable moment when Bezos popped the question.
"When he opened the box, I think I blacked out a bit," she said. Sánchez shared that the dazzling 20-carat ring, which is estimated at $2.5 million, left her stunned.
She also recounted that Bezos had secretly placed the ring under her pillow, which caught her off guard when he asked for her hand in marriage.
