Chadwick Boseman's Family Says He Wasn't 'Snubbed' By Oscars, They're Not Upset

Chadwick Boseman's family wants his fans to know they don't view his losing the Academy Award as a "snub" and reminded everyone he didn't put much value on the award.

According to reports, Chadwick's brother Derrick broke his silence on the situation saying he didn't view what happened to his brother as a "snub" because everyone nominated in the Best Actor category was excellent and deserving of the award.

He also revealed Boseman's family isn't upset or agitated at all about Anthony Hopkins winning the award -- and actually gave him a huge shout-out!

Boseman's Family: He Didn't Put Much 'Value' On The Oscars


Boseman's brother, Derrick, says the family wishes Hopkins all the best and told TMZ, "I"m sure [Anthony] would if Chad won." As you know, Hopkins paid tribute to Hopkins in his acceptance speech for 'The Father.'

Interestingly, Derrick said the late actor didn't put much "value" on the Oscars anyways and "always described them to me as a campaign." Of course, he admits winning Best Actor would have been an achievement.

As you know, Boseman was the heavy favorite to win the category for his performance in 'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.'

Hollywood Upset Over Chadwick Boseman's Best Actor Loss!


A large number of Hollywood stars, including many A-listers are upset about the Academy's choice not to give the award to Boseman.

After it was announced, many flooded social media in disbelief and disappointment including Jemele Hill who wrote, "We should have known some f--k s--t was about to happen when Joaquin Phoenix said he wasn’t going to say what he originally planned."

Another MSNBC correspondent tweeted, "Wait what was that Game of Thrones style ending?? Andra Day and Chadwick Boseman were robbed."
