“California is worth fighting for,” Caitlyn Jenner said while announcing her run for California governor.
The Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete revealed that she has officially filed paperwork to be California’s next governor on Friday, April 23. Jenner made the big announcement by sharing a press release on all of her social media accounts. She encouraged he followers to visit her website, CaitlynJenner.com, donate to her campaign, and purchase all sorts of merch, including hats, mugs, shirts, and special Caitlyn For California koozies. Check out some of her merch and her announcement below.
The long-time Republican shared a press release and captioned it, “I’m in! California is worth fighting for.” The release explained her motive for getting involved in State politics.
“California has been my home for nearly 50 years,” she wrote. “I came here because I knew that anyone, regardless of their background or station in life, could turn their dreams into reality. But for the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people. Sacramento needs an honest leader with a clear vision.”
“I have been a compassionate disrupter throughout my life, from representing the United States and winning a gold medal at the Olympics to helping advance the movement for equality. As Californians, we face a now-or-never opportunity to fundamentally fix our state before it’s too late,” Caitlyn wrote.
Jenner then called out California’s current governor by name and shamed him. “Taking on entrenched Sacramento politicians and the special interests that fund them requires a fighter who isn’t afraid to do what is right. I am a proven winner and the only outsider who can put an end to Gavin Newsom’s disastrous time as governor.”
Her supporters can simply donate to her campaign by visiting her website, but she also encouraged her followers to snatch up all her new merchandise. Caitlyn is selling hats, mugs, koozies, shirts, and wine glasses (it is California, after all) that feature her slogan and logo, “Caitlyn For California.” Most of the items cost around $30. The koozies and the yard signs are the cheapest items at $15 and $25. If the governor run doesn’t pan out, at least she will make some merchandise money!
