Demi Lovato has had enough of diet culture and called out a Los Angeles ice cream shop in a lengthy Instagram rant.

Demi Lovato has worked long and hard on treating her years-long battle with an eating disorder, and she is determined to help others suffering from the horrible disease.

On Saturday, Demi brought the heat against The Big Chill ice cream shop by blasting them on her Instagram story. She called out the creamery for promoting “diet culture” and labeled the shop #dietculturevultures.

Demi took to her Instagram stories to let everyone know she had zero chill for The Big Chill.

She started off her argument writing, “Finding it extremely hard to order FROYO from The Big Chill Official when you have to walk past tons of sugar free cookies/other diet foods before you get to the counter. Do better please. #DietCultureVultures.”

The Big Chill official ice cream shop got wind of Demi’s words and explained their side of the diet sweets situation.

In an Instagram story of its own, The Big Chill Official reposted Demi’s qualms and tagged her writing, “@ddlovato We carry items for Diabetics, Celiac disease, Vegan and of course have many indulgent items as well.”

Demi stood strong in her stance against the shop and wrote, “So I think I’m gonna have to make that hashtag a thing. I will be calling harmful messaging from brands or companies that perpetuate a society that not only enables but praises disordered eating. #DIETCULTUREVULTURES.”

The Big Chill Official heard her cries and promptly responded to her directly. The Big Chill Official direct messaged Demi about her calling them out. The responded to her saying, “We are not diet vultures. We cater to all of our customers needs for the past 36 years. We are sorry you found this offensive.”

Well Demi took a note out of her own lyrics and basically replied, ‘Sorry, Not Sorry!’

She replied, “Not just that. Your service was terrible. So rude. The whole experience was triggering and awful. You can carry things for other people while also caring for another percentage of your customers who struggle DAILY just to even step foot. In your store. You can find a way to provide an inviting environment for all people with different needs. Including eating disorders – one of the deadliest mental illnesses only second to opios overdoses. Don’t make excuses, just do better.”

She then captioned the DM repost, “Since y’all wanna keep this going_____ @thebigchillofficial.”

Demi furthered her stance on The Big Chill Official by being as transparent as possible replying, “I was thinking maybe it would help if you made it more clear that the sugar free options and vegan options are for that. Labeling the snacks for celiac or diabetes or vegans. When it’s not super clear, the messaging gets confusing and being in LA it’s really hard to distinguish diet culture vs health needs. I think clearer messaging would be more beneficial for everyone. You aren’t wrong for catering to many different needs but it’s not about excluding one demographic to cater to others.”

Demi is a major advocate for mental health. On multiple occasions she's spoken openly about her eating disorder & mental health struggles.
