Wonder Woman has many strong female role models, but we didn’t know that Princess Diana was one of them!
Gal Gadot participated in Vanity Fair Cocktail Hour Live event on April 13 and revealed that she used Princess Diana as inspiration for how she portrayed Wonder Woman. Interestingly enough, both strong, caring women are called Princess Diana before Wonder Woman assumed the alias, Diana Prince, which is also a pretty similar name. Scroll down to find out how Gadot shaped her portrayal of the iconic DC hero to resemble the late Princess of Wales.
The expecting actress spoke about the late Princess and how she inspired her performance with Vanity Fair’s Anthony Breznican during their cocktail hour conversation. She noted that Princess Diana had a way of connecting with people through compassion and empathy, two traits that she wanted her Princess Diana to feature prominently.
“I remember watching a documentary about Princess Diana and there was a part where they said she was full of compassion and always cared for the people and that was like, ‘Ding, ding, ding,’ that should be the Wonder Woman we have,” Gadot said.
“How can you connect to a goddess that’s super strong and has it all and super perfect?” She rhetorically asked. “I wanted to show her vulnerabilities and heart.”
After the successful release of “Wonder Woman 1984,” Warner Bros. quickly announced that the public will get a third franchise film from Gadot and director Patty Jenkins.
“As fans around the world continue to embrace Diana Prince, driving the strong opening weekend performance of Wonder Woman 1984, we are excited to be able to continue her story with our real life Wonder Women — Gal and Patty — who will return to conclude the long-planned theatrical trilogy,” Warner Bros. chief Toby Emmerich said in a statement.
Of course, the fashionable star was dressed to the nines for her virtual conversation and honored her glam squad with a fit pic on social media. She wore a beautiful green dress by ALAÏA and tagged her talented makeup artist and stylist.
“Had the best time being a part of the Vanity Fair cocktail hour charity event
Thank you for having me @vanityfair ❤️,” she captioned her stunning dress pic.
Gal’s adorable belly was more pronounced in the photo shared by her stylist, Elizabeth Stewart. She announced that she is expecting her third child with her husband, Jaron Varsano in March after fans thought they saw a cute bump when she presented at the Golden Globes.
