Meghan King opened up about the impending finalization of her ongoing divorce from ex-husband Jim Edmonds during an interview with Us Weekly magazine at the end of last week.
Over a year and a half after the former MLB player filed documents to end their five-year marriage following allegations of being unfaithful and engaging in an inappropriate text message relationship, the former “Real Housewives of Orange County” star and mother of three young children is looking forward to being officially single once again.
Meghan King Will Miss Her Health Insurance
“I think [it’ll be] a combination of [feeling] free mixed with being scared because I’ll be, like, totally on my own,” King told the outlet on Thursday, April 8, as she promoted her “Intimate Knowledge” podcast. “I won’t have [Edmonds’ medical insurance] and that kind of scares me because that’s a big expense.”
King and Edmonds share three children, including their daughter, Aspen, and their twin boys, Hayes and Hart, and Edmonds is also dad to four other children from previous relationships.
Meghan King Is Done With Her ‘Ball And Chain’
Although King has dated a number of men in the year and a half since she split from Edmonds, including her current boyfriend Will Roos, she looks forward to being officially single after her divorce from Edmonds is finalized.
“[I’ll be free from] that huge energetic ball and chain that was holding me back,” she shared. “It’s gone and now I can go and live my life and change my name legally, officially. And be with someone [new] as a single woman.”
Meghan King Is Glad Her Split Wasn’t Featured On ‘RHOC’
Looking back at her messy split from Edmonds, which included allegations of an inappropriate relationship with their former nanny, which he denied, King said she is grateful that their breakup didn’t happen during the time she was starring on “The Real Housewives of Orange County.”
“Can you imagine? TV gold right there at my expense, but no, thank you,” she said of the split. “I regret some of the decisions that I made to be as public [with the divorce] as I was.”
Meghan King Hopes She And Jim Edmonds Will One Day Be In A Better Place
Speaking of her future, King said that she hopes she and her former spouse, who is now dating Kortnie O’Connor, will one day be in a better place in their co-parenting relationship.
“I think there’s ebbs and flows in the … progression of a divorce and as the kids age and [with] co-parenting and moving on and all that … I’m really hopeful that, you know, time heals everything,” she explained.
King was featured on “The Real Housewives of Orange County” from season 10 to season 12.
