'American Idol' Star Luke Bryan Contracts COVID-19, Paula Abdul Filling In As Judge

Country star Luke Bryan is suffering from COVID-19, and the virus is forcing him to miss the first live show for this season's 'American Idol.'

The 'AI' judge made the announcement today on Twitter, revealing to his massive fan base that he has contracted the Coronavirus and is quarantining at home.

Luke's health issues come at a terrible time for the popular singing competition show, after being forced to sideline one of their three main judges. But, producers had a trick up their sleeve that may make this terrible situation, into mindblowing television!

Luke Bryan: I Tested Positive For COVID-19

“I’m sad to say I won’t be a part of tonight’s first live @americanidol show,” Bryan posted on Twitter.

He continued, “I tested positive for Covid but I’m doing well and look forward to being back at it soon.”

Obviously, this isn't a great situation, but the producers announced at the same time that Paula Abdul would be stepping in to fill Luke's spot on the show. The 'Straight Up' singer back on live TV in front of the 'American Idol' audience -- Yes, Please!

Paula Abdul Filling In For The 'AI' Judge For Live Show!

According to multiple reports, American Idol's first live show will include an audience with will be masked, and tested for COVID-19 before entering the building.

The fans will be seated in "pods" which will include only members of their immediate households. The production staff is working closely with the L.A. County Department of Public Health to ensure safety after opening up the series to a live audience.

Fans flooded social media to send get-well messages to Bryan, many hoping he will back on the show as soon as possible!

"Oh no! I pray you don’t have any adverse side effects from it 🙏🙏. Wishes for a very speedy recovery 😢," one fan wrote.

Another added, "Make sure you get plenty of rest. You will be missed but your health is more important and so is your family's- my prayers are with you."

"Luke will be missed at our first American Idol LIVE show tonight, but he is resting now in quarantine at home and we’re wishing him a speedy recovery," one read.

Bottom line, we hope Luke Bryan makes a full recovery, but Paula Abdul back on 'American Idol' tonight, sounds like the best thing ever!
