Over the past year and change the celebrity world seems to suffer one loss after another. This time we are sad to report that former star of “The Sopranos,” Joseph Siravo passed away due to a battle with cancer. From our records, Sirvao was 66 years old at the time of his passing. Even though some other outlets are reporting that the actor was 64. He’d been battling cancer for some time. For years he was one of those actors that you could expect to show up as the typical Italian mobster character on different shows and movies.
For those people who are having a hard time remembering Siravo on the show, he played the character of Johnny Soprano. Who, was the father of Tony Soprano, played by the late James Gandolfini. While Siravo’s character was never considered to be a series regular he did appear on multiple occasions in different seasons of the show as Johnny.
The character appeared in seasons one, three, five, and the second part of season six on the show. Again, most of his appearances were essentially not substantial enough to be considered a recurring role.
Rest In Peace, Joseph Siravo ♥️

Siravo was born in DC back in 1955, but his family did have Italian roots. That ultimately dictated the type of roles that he played throughout his career quite a bit. For an actor who would become known for his role in The Sopranos‘, it’s only fitting that he would get his start on the big screen in a movie like Carlito’s Way.
In the movie, Siravo plays Vincent “Vinnie” Taglialucci. His character wants to seek revenge on Sean Penn’s character for the murder of his father and brother.
Later in life, he was cast to play the role of Fred Goldman in “American Crime Story: The People vs OJ Simpson.” This was certainly another show that garnered quite a bit of praise from the audience in its day.
Another example that although Siravo’s career may not have included a ton of well-known performances he ultimately appeared in many shows and movies that received a great level of success. Without a doubt, Siravo will be remembered for being a part of that success.
Sadly Siravo was diagnosed with prostate cancer back in 2017. This was just about a year removed from his appearance in The People vs Oj Simpson. At the time Siravo continued to work, though. It was in 2019 when he played some of the last significant roles in his career. Appearing in the film “The Report” that was released that year.
It was late this Sunday when his daughter took to social media to confirm that the actor had passed away.
