On April 9, legendary rapper, DMX, tragically passed away after being on life support for a week. This was tragically caused by a heart attack that occurred exactly a week before. There were conflicting reports that DMX was breathing on his own didn’t need to be on life support but unfortunately, that was not the case, according to his lawyer. DMX’s brain function also didn’t improve at all after tests conducted and therefore, his family had to make the difficult decision to take him off life support.
Simmons Shows DMX Love On Instagram
DMX’s ex-wife, Tashera Simmons, turned 50, on April 10. She was also the same age as X during the time of his passing. She posted throwback photos of herself to Instagram as well as photos of her wedding to the rapper.
“I celebrate my life today grateful to God for the 50 years He has given me. But now I also celebrate my ex-husband, my best friend, my spiritual partner, my mentor. But I also thank God for his life and his peace. And his journey and his life lessons that were passed on and that will live on for generations to come.”
DMX Public Memorial Expected To Be Held In His Hometown Of Yonkers, NY
DMX passed away at a hospital in White Plains, NY, as tons of tributes were on display outside of it. Among the items were notes, teddy bears, and more. As far as when people can expect a memorial, it will likely be in his hometown of Yonkers, NY. A tribute will reportedly happen there, such as a street name, according to TMZ. A public memorial could also happen at Yonkers Raceway, as this invite has since been extended to DMX’s family by Mayor Mike Spano.

As soon as DMX passed away, fans did their part to honor him and a lot of that was to stream his music, as he created a lot of classic records, On iTunes, DMX occupied the first three spots on the top songs chart on ITunes. These were “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem,” “Party Up,” and “X Gon’ Give It Yo Ya.” A lot of his albums were being streamed heavily as well, as his first five of his career debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
