Ellen DeGeneres has been on a quest to create a more positive perception of how she interacts with people when the cameras are turned off, and the iconic TV host was struggling to keep it together after running into a photographer while out and about near her home.

The incident went down last week in Montecito, CA, an upscale community in Santa Barbara where Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi call home, as well as other A-list stars like Rob Lowe and Oprah.

Ellen DeGeneres was sporting an athletic look while out for her morning walk in a crewneck t-shirt, Nike joggers, and a white Lacoste hat.

However, we're told that when approached by a photographer, Ellen became "surprised" and whipped out her own iPhone to record the encounter with a scowl on her face, according to CelebMagazine, who first published the photos.

"Appearing to be unhappy with the attention, one of the media’s most prominent 'Be Kind' champions couldn’t hide her displeasure with the exposure," the website, founded by Nik Richie, stated.

Trying To Change

The photos of Ellen come on the heels of the embattled TV star trying to clean up her image following multiple reports and accusations of her harboring a hostile work environment for the longtime staff on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

Kicking off her 18th season on TV, Ellen addressed the issues with a stern apology back in August:

"As you may have heard, this summer, there were allegations of a toxic work environment at our show, and then there was an investigation. I learned that things happened here that never should have happened. I take that very seriously, and I want to say I am so sorry to the people who were affected,” Ellen announced.
