The former NBA star took to Instagram to break his silence on the tragic death — pointing out that the two stars struggled from the same addiction — something he says they were forced to endure in silence.
In his statement, Lamar pointed out the impact DMX had on the Hip Hop community and says his death may have even more impact on the massive problem in this country with addiction.

“My brother, the fight is over you gained your wings ~ you changed the rap game, one of the greatest to ever do it ???,” Lamar began.

He continued, “Your death will bring life to so many of us celebrities who are ridiculed publicly but suffer silently with the struggle of addiction. Mental Health Awareness is a must in our communities and maybe now after losing another G.O.A. T we can create real platforms with real solutions to address this, we can’t lose another DMX ??.”
Adding, “Fly high my guy ??.”

Fans of both DMX and Lamar Odom agreed with the NBA star, saying, “Most real post I’ve seen regarding his death. Addiction is an awful disease. ???.”

As you know, Lamar Odom famously overdosed on cocaine and other substances(while visiting a brothel in Las Vegas. The NBA star spent several days in a coma, and suffered strokes and other ailments as a part of his recovery.

Luckily, Odom survived, and is able to warn other against the perils of addiction.
To this day, Odom says the incident causes struggles in his everyday life. “I have horrible memory loss,” he explains. “And my long-term memory was affected as well. Athletically, my balance is poo,” says Odom, in his book, Darkness to Light. Adding “I was shocked how weak my body became.”
In the book, Lamar describes the terrible situation, which seems eerily similar to DMX’s final hours. “There was an unholy concoction of cocaine, cognac, and cannabis coursing through my veins. My heart stopped twice. I had twelve seizures and six strokes. My lungs collapsed and my kidneys ruptured. I was on life support. Everyone I’d ever loved was looking at me through bleary eyes,” he said.
Earlier this week, DMX died after suffering a massive heart attack after overdosing on drugs.
