Great news for all of the fans of the Netflix hit drama “The Crown”. The show’s
5th season is set to start filming right on time in spite of the fact that the UK is still going through a third lockdown period because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The strict lockdown protocols are set to ease by April 12. This would represent great timing for the series. Which is set to resume filming this summer. It’s worth pointing out that with the 4th season they were able to wrap things up in March of 2020 just before the full lockdown in the UK took effect. The crew at Elstree Studios where the show is filmed have had perfect time so far to avoid delays in production.
As has been tradition on this show the cast changes completely every two seasons. This time around Imelda Staunton is going to be stepping into the role of Queen Elizabeth. While Lesley Manville is going to be trying to fill the shoes of princess Margeret. The character has certainly been a fan favorite on the show. One of the most talked-about role changes in this shift has certainly been that of Elizabeth Debicki playing the role of Princess Diana.
These next two seasons of the show, which are allegedly going to be the show’s last, will cover the events in the life of the Royal Family that occurred in the 90’s. Some of those events are going to include the wedding of Charles and Diana, and of course the whole saga of how they’re marriage ends up. Princess Anne also goes through similar drama and that should certainly also play out in the show. Apologies for the spoilers to all of those folks who hadn’t read that part of the British history books yet!
Pretty much everyone knows at this point that Prince Harry has become the inside source that lets the public know what life was really like inside the palace. Harry recently confessed that he does watch the show. While sharing some of his thoughts on it mentioning,
“It’s fictional, but it’s loosely based on the truth. Of course it’s not strictly accurate; it gives you a rough idea about what that lifestyle is, the pressures of putting duty and service above family and everything else”
One of the things that Harry mentioned was that he was way more comfortable with the family’s depiction on the show than he was with some other things written in the media. It would be fair to question whether Harry would feel the same way if the show decided to tackle the Megxit drama. While also maybe checking back up on him after the show takes a deeper dive into his mother’s life. The show was originally set to end after the 6th season. However, there’s enough fan far and certainly quite a bit of recent royal drama to fuel at least a couple of more seasons of the show!
