DMX’s family is planning a vigil outside of the New York hospital where the rapper continues to fight for his life after an overdose and subsequent heart attack.
According to multiple reports, the Ruff Ryders to the Rescue Foundations will be holding the vigil outside of White Plains Hospital at 5 p.m. tonight, and a massive crowd is expected to show and pay their respects.
At this moment, the legendary rapper remains in critical condition and on life support, and updates from within the hospital say it is “not looking good.”

As we reported, DMX was hospitalized last Friday night after suffering a drug-induced heart attack around 11 pm inside of his home. The rapper’s attorney said the rapper was admitted to the ICU and had to be resuscitated and was put on life support.
According to his manager, DMX is in a “vegetative state” and is “still in the same condition — in a vegetative state, [with] lung and brain failure and no brain activity.”
The rapper continues to face “serious health issues” and “We ask that you please keep Earl/DMX and us in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers as well as respect our privacy as we face these challenges,” the family added.

In the lawyer’s statement, he appeared to acknowledge DMX’s long-term issues with substance abuse — saying his client had a “difficult life” and “He expressed the pain and suffering in a very unique way. He truly is reflective of a whole segment of our society whose pain and suffering go unrecorded.”
“The Simmons Family appreciates the overwhelming outpouring of heartfelt love, encouragement, support, and prayers for Earl,” the rapper’s family said. Adding, “Earl is someone whose life and music have been a source of inspiration and strength to so many people around the world. It is reassuring to see his fans return that same passion and energy to him during his time of need.”

“He is truly an amazing person. He walked into a room, he lit up the room. He couldn’t help making you feel good in his presence,” his lawyer continued.
In the past few years, DMX has been open about his struggles with drug addiction. Back in 2017, he canceled a series of performances to reenter a rehabilitation facility to treat his issues. The rapper spent another stint in rehab in 2019, and it appears recently he was suffering some sort of relapse.
Hosptial workers joined a vigil over the weekend, and it appears many will join this evening.
