Jessica Alba’s Childhood
Alba was born to Mark David Alba and Catherine Louisa in Pomona, California, U.S on April 28, 1981. She grew up with a younger brother named Joshua.
Her father’s Air-Force work made the family move around a lot; from Biloxi, Mississippi to Del Rio Texas and finally to Claremont, California. Her parents were stunt traditional catholics and she once describe them as a ‘conservative’ family.
However, the actress sees herself as a ‘liberal’ and ‘feminist’ woman. Her childhood was an interesting one, except for the fact that she had to be isolated from most of her school mates.
When Alba was 13 years old, she went in and out of hospitals on several occasions, giving her less time to be with other kids at school and have friends.
She was first diagnosed with pneumonia four to five times a year and that put a strain on her physical health. Coupled with this, Alba was an asthma patient, who later developed collapsed lungs and had to be operated on.
After that, Alba was diagnosed with a ruptured appendix, which once again, put her in the hospital for several days. As if that wasn’t enough, the “Fantastic Four” actress also underwent surgery for a tonsillar cyst.

Alba definitely got her strong-will from her mother, who like her, went through a devastating childhood due to an illness.
Her mother, Catherine, was diagnosed with cancer at a very young age and though it was a difficult journey for her, she fought through the illness and came out healthy.
Although Alba had to grow up faster than her peers as she did not get to be around them much, and do the things a young girls loves to do, she helped her children get that experience.
Marriage, Kids Minus Acting
