Mike Tyson is getting some heavy hitters to give his life story the Hollywood treatment, as Martin Scorsese has signed on to the team, along with Antoine Fuqua directing and Jamie Foxx starring as the Undisputed Champ.
The news was announced Monday that Martin Scorsese would executive produce on the project, currently titled “Tyson,” via his company, Sikelia Productions. The limited series is set to cover all of Mike Tyson’s life and career and is something Jamie Foxx has been preparing to do for some time.
Mike Tyson has also been looking for someone to give his story the A-list treatment and is happy that Foxx, Scorsese, and Fuqua are all on board.
“I have been looking to tell my story for quite some time,” Tyson told Variety in a statement.
He added, “With the recent launch of Legends Only League and the excitement from fans following my return to the ring, now feels like the perfect moment. I look forward to collaborating with Martin, Antoine, Jamie, and the entire creative team to bring audiences a series that not only captures my professional and personal journey but also inspires and entertains.”
Portraying Mike Tyson on-screen has been something Jamie Foxx has wanted to do for a while. He has openly spoken about being involved in the project with Mike Tyson for the past couple of years and even gave Hot 97 his take of the opening scene (below), which is good enough to send shivers down your spine.
Foxx will star and serve as executive producer on “Tyson,” Along with Fuqua and Scorsese. Tyson and his wife, Kiki Tyson, will also serve as executive producers, along with Azim Spicer as an associate producer.
