Chevy Chase is currently recovering from a serious heart issue, that landed the legendary comedian in the hospital for the past five weeks.
According to multiple reports, the ‘SNL’ alum was hospitalized and spent over a month dealing with some sort of major issues with the heart. At this point, the former ‘Community’ star is resting at his Westchester home and hasn’t elaborated on the specific ailment with his heart.
In the past few years, Chevy has been open about issues with his health, including cardiomyopathy.

“These are my first few days home. I can only say how happy I am to now be back with my family. I’m feeling good,” Chase told Page Six.
He continued, “I was in the hospital five weeks. A heart issue. So, for now, I’m around the house. Not going anywhere.”
Interestingly, Chevy decided to reveal his day-to-day activities now that he is stuck at home during the pandemic and recovering from the hospitalization — which included a major dig on modern comedy which he says is a far cry from what his co-stars did on ‘Saturday Night Live.’

“I used to go out and do anything. I’d do slapstick in front of 3,000 people, but at this moment I have no need to go out and meet COVID,” he said.
Adding, “I read. Turn on TV. Watch the news. All drek. I see actors, comedians, producers, screenwriters working and, God bless them, but I don’t see anything great on television,” he explained. “It all became a generation of s—heads laughing at the world. The humor today’s giving the next generation worse stuff than they already have in their own lives. It drives me nuts.”
Although it’s unclear what exactly Chevy is currently suffering from that landed him in the hospital for so long, back in 2018 he revealed he was diagnosed with alcohol cardiomyopathy.
The condition is a weakening of the heart muscles caused by excessive drinking. At the time, his daughter stopped talking to him and his wife threatened to divorce him if he didn’t get sober.
The good news, Chevy cleaned up his act and got sober. It’s unclear if this recent hospitalization is connected to the same condition, but he has obviously had issues with his heart in the past.
