Former “Howard Stern Show” staffer Shuli Egar is doing his own podcast and making big moves!
Shuli recently left the “Howard Stern Show” after 15 years and started a new podcast called “The Shuli Show.” Egar, known for his hilarious correspondence with the Wack Pack and rowdy comedy shows, first started his show on Patreon but is taking it to the next level and plans to reach an even bigger audience since inking a deal with Hurrdat Media. Like many of us, Egar was forced to pivot during the pandemic and moved his family to Huntsville, Alabama… a move that shocked not only fans but his Stern Show coworkers and Howard himself. We caught up with the comedian so he could answer some of our burning questions about his new venture, and he revealed that Howard gave the comedian his blessing.
Why did you leave the Stern Show? Was your recent move to Alabama a factor?
Shuli: “I left the show because I felt it was time for me to stand on my own. As much as I love my time there, there was only so much I could do, and I want to do more, and now I am.”
“Moving to Alabama helped me get peace of mind that I couldn’t get in New York, and it was definitely a factor when it came time for me to decide to move on.“
Did you have a personal conversation with Howard about leaving?
Shuli: “I had numerous conversations with management about the move and they relayed back this information to Howard and everything was approved ahead of time. As far as a conversation about leaving the show, we spoke after I resigned and had a nice conversation where he gave me his blessings.“
Did you personally call the Wack Pack to tell them you were leaving the Stern Show? If so, which one took it the worst?
Shuli: “Yes, I have spoken to Gary the conqueror and explained to him that I left the show seven times now, I don’t think he gets it. Also, Wendy the slow adult took the news very hard until she saw a squirrel.“
Are you still in contact with them? Which ones?
Shuli: “I still speak to all of them, they still call me nonstop and I’m fine with that we’re family.”
Which Stern Staffer are you going to miss the most?
Shuli: “I miss everybody there I love working with that crew but if I had to pick one it would be Ronnie he’s the only guy I was taller than.”
What is the most important thing you learned from Howard and the Stern Show staff?
Shuli: “I learned that you surround yourself with people who believe in you and what you’re doing and they will do a better job than the best people money can buy in that field. You get the hungry around you and they will make you and themselves the best.”
What will your relationship look like with the staff in the future?
Shuli: “I’m not sure, and I’m also not focused on that right now. My focus is the future not the past. I love everyone there and wish them nothing but the best, but I have to move forward on all levels.”
What are your career goals going forward?
Shuli: “Career goal… get booked on Joe Rogan and be the most successful Jew in Huntsville Alabama. I have the only Jew part down, now I need to get the most successful part.”
What is the major difference between your podcast and your role with the Stern Show?
Shuli: “It’s my show and I can do whatever I want and that feels great.”
How do you find inspiration and topics for your podcast?
Shuli “I’m a Jew living in Alabama there is no shortage of inspiration. Not to mention I just quit my 15 year gig with nothing but a podcast lined up believe me I’m inspired.”
